Dear ,
The 2013 Physician Fee Schedule Final Rule has been released, and based upon an initial review, radiation oncology and radiation therapy centers have received an overall cut of 7% and 9%, respectively (as compared to a 15% cut to radiation oncology and a 19% cut to radiation therapy centers in the Proposed Rule). Although CMS finalized procedure time cuts to IMRT and SBRT, these reductions were largely offset by CMS's acceptance of updated equipment cost data supplied by the radiation oncology community. In addition, CMS will add a 2% increase due to new and revised codes, which helps to offset the final year of PPIS implementation and the interest reductions.

ACRO has worked with the Radiation Therapy Alliance, and our legislative Counsel at Liberty Partners LLC, to walk back initial proposed cuts with success. It is important to remember that the College could not have done this without you; your membership in ACRO and letters to representatives on Capitol Hill allows the College to advocate for the profession effectively!
On a personal note, please consider donating to Superstorm Sandy disaster relief at the RedCross.org.
Thank you, J. Michael Kerley, MD, FACRO President
