OREGON JEWISH MUSEUM ACQUIRES NEW BUILDING
In 2017, the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education will move into a new home at 724 NW Davis Street in Portland, the former home of the Museum of Contemporary Craft. The OJMCHE, which currently resides in a leased space in northwest Portland, recently completed a feasibility study focusing on a permanent location - just as the MOCC facility went on the market. Within a few months, a group of just over 30 donors helped raise the $5 million needed to purchase the space. The move will more than double the Museum's footprint, from 6,900 to approximately 15,000 square feet, providing room for more national and international exhibition galleries; space for a core exhibition; a 100-seat auditorium for public programming; a gift shop; and a small caf. A photographic exhibition running through late September will be the last one at the Museum's current location.

LOOKING AHEAD TO EXPANDED JEWISH MUSEUM IN D.C.
The Jewish Historical Society of Greater Washington has released this conceptual rendering of the planned exterior of its new museum complex, developed by architects SmithGroup JJR. The new structure will be situated alongside the historic former Adas Israel  synagogue (home to the Lillian and Albert Small Jewish Museum) at Third and F Streets, NW, within the $1.3-billion mixed-used project known as Capitol Crossing. Before the end of the year, the synagogue building will be moved to a temporary location until the new site is ready. Once permanently situated, it will be complemented by the modern facility shown here - to include an airy lobby, multi-purpose room, three exhibition galleries, office suite, and program spaces. This time-lapse video shows ongoing work at Capitol Crossing; the historic synagogue (in its current location at Third and G Streets) is visible at center toward the back of the frame.

GLICKMAN TO MUSEUM OF JEWISH HERITAGE AS PRESIDENT & CEO
The Museum of Jewish Heritage-A Living Memorial to the Holocaust has announced the appointment of Michael S. Glickman to lead the institution as its President and CEO. Currently the Chief of Strategic Partnerships and University Advancement at Long Island University (LIU) and former head of the Center for Jewish History (CJH), he will join the MJH on September 1st. Glickman spent close to a decade at the CJH, which houses five cultural organizations. He holds degrees in Public Administration and Political Science from Columbia University and LIU. Said Glickman, "I'm very much looking forward to working with the Museum's outstanding staff and dedicated board as we expand the work of the institution and build on its extraordinary legacy."

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
CAJM offers resources for learning on our website and at our annual conference, models professional standards, provides opportunities for information exchange, and works on behalf of Jewish museums throughout North America. Collegial institutions from other parts of the world can also affiliate, as did the Jewish Museum London. The result of a 1995 amalgamation of two preexisting cultural institutions in the English capital, the Museum has operated in its Camden Town location since 2010, with a mission to "surprise, delight and engage all people, irrespective of background or faith, in the history, identity and culture of Jews in Britain: by inspiring discovery, provoking questions and encouraging understanding." Currently on display there through mid-October: Jukebox, Jewkbox! A Century on Shellac and Vinyl, a temporary exhibition developed by the Jewish Museum Hohenems in collaboration with the Jewish Museum Munich.
