"Something Much Greater than 'Hearing the Voice of God'"

Something much greater than "hearing the voice of God"? Yes, absolutely! There is a major difference between hearing and obeying "the voice" of the Father; versus, beholding the Countenance, or Face, of the Father, and carrying that heart of the Father... both, toward one another, and toward the rest of the whole world. Even as there is a major difference between the Old Covenant being the Hearer's & Doer's Covenant; versus, the New Covenant being the Seer's & Demonstrator's Covenant. "Doing" is not necessarily the same thing as "Manifesting the Glory". We are not transformed by "doing" (we actually become more self-righteous, dividing and separating ourselves from one another to "please the Father"??), but by "seeing" or "beholding". Just like Adam, after his fall from Grace, even the Older Prodigal Son still "hears the voice of his own father"; but both Adam and the Older Prodigal lose sight of their Father, no longer beholding their Father, because they have become so self-absorbed, self-centered, self-seeking, self-righteous in their efforts to "please the Father" and make themselves "more like the Father"... even though, they are already His Sons and are already "in relationship" with the Father. The modern-day "gospel" has made a dead religion out of, allegedly, "hearing the voice of God". We have reams of notebooks, and electronic voice recorders, full of "divine utterances"; but little, next to no manifestation. And to go along with it all, very little... next to no love, at all... that we are actually carrying in our hearts toward one another, much less toward the rest of the whole world.
Genesis 3: 6-10 (KJV) 6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. 7 And the eyes of them both were opened [*consequently, their "eyes" became "closed" unto the Image of the Father and, likewise, "closed" unto the Image of being His Son] and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. 8 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden. 9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? 10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. [*under the influence of the spirit of Moses' Law, the Tree of the Knowledge of Good & Evil, we will attempt both to run from God and divide... and separate... and withdraw... ourselves from one another! See next Scripture reference below...] Luke 15: 28-30 (NLT) 28 "The older brother was angry and wouldn't go in. His father came out and begged him, 29 but he replied, 'All these years I've slaved for you and never once refused to do a single thing you told me to. And in all that time you never gave me even one young goat for a feast with my friends. 30 Yet when this son of yours comes back after squandering your money on prostitutes, you celebrate by killing the fattened calf!' 2 Corinthians 3: 12-18 (NLT) 12 Since this new way gives us such confidence, we can be very bold. 13 We are not like Moses, who put a veil over his face so the people of Israel would not see the glory, even though it was destined to fade away. 14 But the people's minds were hardened, and to this day whenever the old covenant is being read, the same veil covers their minds so they cannot understand the truth. And this veil can be removed only by believing in Christ. 15 Yes, even today when they read Moses' writings, their hearts are covered with that veil, and they do not understand. 16 But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord-who is the Spirit-makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.
