Desert Hot Springs Community & Wellness Center Recognized
CalEd, the statewide economic development organization has awarded the Community Health and Wellness Center as contributing to the economic development of Desert Hot Springs and the Coachella Valley. The Center is being recognized not only for the fifteen health care jobs that are being created, but the character building programs of the Boys and Girls Club, Healthy Eating and Active Living components of the Gym, Nutritional Lab, Health Education Auditorium, Fitness Center, John Furbee Aquatics Center, and the Medical/Dental Clinic.   In combination the facility helps prepare the Desert Hot Springs youth and adults for greater learning opportunities through better health and thus productivity. Healthy employees miss fewer days of work. Healthy students miss fewer days of learning at school and are better learners when they are present. Job preparation skills through better attendance at work and school are enhanced by a healthy individual.   Viewing the Community Health and Wellness Center through an economic development prism is just one of the many views that exist. Long term the value of the Community Health and Wellness Center will be in overall public health, community services, architecture, and public safety. Congratulations to the City of Desert Hot Springs!

CVEP Selected to Receive Office Assets through Kaiser Permanente Nonprofit Donation Day

This donation came at a key time, as the CViHub prepares to expand to an accelerator campus to meet the growing demand for technology services.   The expansion of CVEP's CViHub - made possible through such efforts as the recent donation of capital assets by Kaiser Permanente - will propel the Valley beyond the wind, geothermal and solar technologies that have put this Southern California desert on the clean energy map in recent decades.
