CVEP is pleased to announce Brian McGowan and John Husing Ph.D. as two of the featured speakers for this year's Economic Summit. Attendees will be treated to an enlightening outlook on the Coachella Valley's economic profile by Brian McGowan - a nationally renowned economist who was appointed as California's Deputy Secretary for Economic Development and Commerce by Governor Schwarzenegger and subsequently was appointed by President Barack Obama as U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce. Dr. Husing will, once again, share informative data regarding the state of the economy of the Coachella Valley as well as information on current economic trends. CVSBDC Update
The Coachella Valley Small Business Development Center, which joined CVEP in January of this year, continues to be a great success. All 2012 goals have been met and we are on track to exceed those goals by 50% by year end. This past week the CVSBDC hosted its monthly "Fireside Chat" which consistently has great attendance for these informative sessions. This past Wednesday's chat was a timely subject "Time Out from Stressing Out: Managing Stress for the Busy Life" and featured a prominent lineup of panelists including Dr. Chris Flores of Eisenhower Medical Center, Beth Mulligan, PA-C of both UCI Medical Center and Eisenhower Medical Center and Holly Nelson-Lassak of Massage Envy. As a service to the Coachella Valley business owners, we are very proud of the fact that we are providing valuable education resources on a monthly basis. Be sure to follow activities and news of the CVSBDC. |

Great California Shake Out Exercise
CViHub client, Seismic Warning Systems, is playing an important role in next week's Statewide Great California Shake Out exercise. They are asking local residents and businesses to participate in this simulated 7.8 earthquake. This is a simple exercise but one that is important for even us adults in the workplace. There are 8.9 million Californian's signed up for this exercise. Of course you can take advantage of the exercise to conduct a personnel accountability check and have a short staff meeting to discuss what you and your staff will do immediately after an earthquake.
