Help Educate the Public about What It's Like to be the Parent of a CYSHCN

Our friends at AMCHP  made us aware of an opportunity to help educate the public about what it's like to be the parent of a child with special health care needs. One of the major public radio stations in Washington, DC, WAMU, is collecting information from families about this topic.  What we know thus far is that "the Kojo Nnamdi Show is exploring the challenges faced by parents [of children with special needs] and would like to hear from you."   The The Kojo Nnamdi Show  is a talk show broadcast in the DC area, but covers issues of both local and national significance.  We have contacted the producers of the show to get more details but have not yet heard back.

The station has a questionnaire to fill out if you would like to share your experiences.  You can choose whether to have your experiences published and attributed to you.   By filling out the questionnaire, you are agreeing to become part of the station's Public Insight Network a database of people who contribute to the stories produced by the station.   This means that, from time to time you may be contacted for help with other stories, and you can suggest ideas for stories you think should be covered.  Your information would not be used for fundraising or marketing, and you can opt out at any point.
