Top Ten Summer Activities for Kids with Special Needs

Summer can be a challenging time for children with special needs and their parents. Many families face a decrease in school and therapeutic hours. This may leave parents with extra time to fill during the day. Parents are also on alert as children with behavioral or social skill challenges encounter bullies and controlling peers at parks. A trip to a recreational center may seem like an easy answer for some families, but not always the most accommodating for a child with physical disabilities or special needs.

36 Fun Summer Activities for
Kids Who are Blind or have Multiple Disabilities

During long breaks from school we're always looking for something fun (and preferably educational) for our kids

to do. I like to search through Pinterest and parenting blogs looking for fun summer-time activities, but it can be very difficult to find projects or outings that are appropriate for a young child who is blind and has multiple disabilities.

So we adapt the activities that we find online, ask our friends for ideas and make up some of our own. Here are some ideas for you to try with your child this summer....

Special Needs Travel

While traveling with a child with special needs may require a little more planning and adjustment, it's just a different category of family vacationing that, just like traveling with infants, toddlers and teens, can be both difficult and enjoyable. Here are ways to make the trip easier and fun for the entire family.
