        World Autism Awareness Day

The sixth annual World Autism Awareness Day is April 2, 2013. Every year, autism organizations around the world celebrate the day with unique fundraising and awareness-raising events

Each April 2, Autism Speaks celebrates Light It Up Blue along with the international autism community, in commemoration of the United Nations-sanctioned World Autism Awareness Day. Light It Up Blue is a unique global initiative that kicks-off Autism Awareness Month and helps raise awareness about autism. In honor of this historic day, many iconic landmarks, hotels, sporting venues, concert halls, museums, bridges and retail stores are among the hundreds of thousands of homes and communities that take part to Light It Up Blue.

It's easy and fun to Light It Up Blue!

TAMPA THEATRE PRESENTS WRETCHES AND JABBERERS

Tracy Thresher and Larry Bissonnette, both autistic, are limited in their ability to communicate. Without words, they find that typing is the best outlet for getting their message across. More than 10 years after starting their autism advocacy, they make their message global with the documentary Wretches & Jabberers - a personal portrait of their travels to Sri Lanka, Finland and Japan, where they aimed to change people's perspective about disabilities and intelligence. Immediately following the showing, Academy Award-winning director Gerardine Wurzburg will lead a 30-minute Q&A with Thresher, Bissonnette, The National Center on Inclusive Education's Mary Schuh, and 13-year-old Tampa autism advocate Henry Frost. - Kelsey Sunderland.
