Day to day life for special needs people is often filled with tremendous obstacles and frustrations. The ability to build self-confidence, self esteem, and achieve a desired level of independence is challenging and frequently limited.

Ordinary activities, such as outdoor recreation, sporting and social entertainment events or even trips to the dentist for people with developmental disabilities are often rare, extra-ordinary occurrences.

Special Day Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit based in Sarasota, Florida, provides opportunities for children and adults with developmental disabilities to experience the physical, therapeutic and social value of nature-based recreational activities and specialized dental care.

SDF is uniquely situated among the region's foundations because of its founders' long time involvement with special needs people.
