Clara Alevy

Clara Alevy is originally from New York, but has lived in Florida for over ten years. Her involvement in the disability community arose with the birth and diagnosis of her son, who has various developmental and mental health challenges. Clara is particularly interested in civil and human rights, advocacy, legislative issues and, of course, disability rights. She hopes to further her education with an advanced degree in political science or law.

Clara works with families in Southwest Florida through FND's Parent Education Network Project, the Parent Training Information Center providing families with the training and information they need to prepare their children for school and beyond in Florida's nine most southern counties.

The Youth Advocacy and Action Project of FND

The youth and young adults participating in the Youth Advocacy and Action Project of FND, sponsored by The Starbucks Foundation, have been very busy. Most of the students have completed The Road to Successful Training and many have already begun serving in their communities through volunteering in programs such as Mayors' Feed the Hungry in Sarasota, and beach and park clean-ups in Charlotte County.

These fantastic young people are an inspiration and we are privileged to be able to support them and work alongside them in their communities.

FND's young adults group in Sarasota put together this presentation to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We hope you enjoy watching it as much as they enjoyed putting it together.
