President's Column

Greetings!
November 29th was a wonderful night of revelry for WTS Minnesota, as we celebrated three decades with our 30th Anniversary Gala. With 120 members and colleagues in attendance, the night was by all measures a resounding success. It was a true pleasure to chat with so many of you that night and see people reconnect with their colleagues, mentors, and friends.
The event reminded me what WTS Minnesota is all about: bringing together the broad and diverse community of transportation professionals in the Twin Cities. We all are lucky to work with some truly wonderful people in Minnesota transportation, and I'm proud that our organization can provide a place where all of us can come together in fellowship.
The night was also about raising funds to support young people heading into transportation careers. Thanks to the tremendous generosity of our members, friends, and corporate sponsors, WTS Minnesota raised over $6,000 for our educational programs, including Transportation YOU. As a result of this success, we're committing to sending a mentor-mentee pair from our Transportation YOU program to the national Transportation YOU summit, to be held in June in Washington D.C.
Take a minute to check out photos from the event in our photo gallery, and browse a Prezi timeline showing 30 years of WTS Minnesota history-thanks to Ashley Ver Burg for assembling this gem! And, if you missed it at the Gala, check out the excellent video anniversary greeting from WTS members, produced by the Center for Transportation Studies and students Kristin Havercamp and Nicola Losik.
With the Gala now behind us, it's hard to believe my year serving as your WTS chapter president has already come to a close. I was truly honored to serve the chapter in 2012. I look forward to handing chapter leadership over to the capable hands of Fay Simer and the 2013 Board of Directors, a fantastic group of women committed to strengthening our professional community and providing even greater member benefits in the coming year.
Here's wishing you a joyous and restful holiday season, and we'll see you in 2013!
Sincerely,
Katie Roth
