CULTURAL AND LINGUISTIC COMPETENCY
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, EMPLOYMENT, AND LABOR ISSUES

International Social Services
This collection, one of 11 Portal collections, consists of abstracts of over 100 policy-related studies and reports published since 2005. Although cultural competency may be interpreted in a variety of ways, it generally refers to the adaptations that individuals, organizations, and systems must make to work effectively with diverse clients and constituents.

Arranged in chronological order by date of publication, the abstracts in the collection are grouped into four categories: healthcare, disability and aging services, policing and the justice system, and social and miscellaneous services. Among topics covered in the social and miscellaneous category are: emergency services, child welfare services, housing, library services, media, and transportation.
