An ice carving competition was held in Houston Texas. We were given 6 clear blocks and 1 white block. Butter and his Posse are good people, they treated us real good. It was 50 degrees and raining :( Follow this link to see more photos.
Recently I went to Houston to compete in an ice carving competition. While there we had brunch at a retired ice carvers home, Walter Odermatt. The Odermatt's were great hosts & showed us some great old photos that brought back a lot of memories from Plymouth. Walter is quite the innovator & some of his techniques are pretty cool. He gave me the press mold to make this fish. The fish is melted into the ice & a backer piece of ice is then frozen on. Has anyone else ever done this technique? NICA Board- you might research Walter as a good candidate for the Ice Carvers Hall of Fame.
