Here we are in the middle of summer and it has been warm here at the RV park. Our pool is looking very inviting and the wineries are in full swing with wine tastings. We will be having wine tasting here at the RV Park through August for you to enjoy during your stay.

This month we are looking forward to some fun events in Prosser including the Wine & Food Fair. Make sure you call and book early to be sure to have your favorite spot.

I will be traveling to Redmond, OR to the FMCA show in August so if you are there please stop by and say hi. We will be having some fun Raffle items to give away. I am looking forward to talking to everyone about our park and the 2015 schedule.

We still have some Dry Camping spots open for Balloon Rally 2014 and we will also be doing our annual BBQ here at the park.

Monthly Riddle Corner

The answer to last month's riddle was:
Answer: Trouble.
Congratulations to Bob Pittelli

Here is this months riddle -

Riddle:

I join you in battle, fist clenched tight.
We pound three times with all our might.
If my rival decides he will sign for peace;
I'll crush him, and the fight will cease.
But if he lays his hand down flat;
I'll suffer defeat, that is that.

What Am I?

The riddles will be collected for 24 hours, to make it fair to our clients that don't get home from work until later in the day.  One name will be drawn from those who entered within 24 hours of the newsletter.  Email your answer to:  Riddle@WineCountryRVPark.com with RIDDLE in the subject line and the correct answer drawn from the entries to the riddle will receive a free one night stay.

What began as winemaker Scott Pontin's high school FFA project has culminated into a 26-year legacy of estate winemaking. A new facility including tasting room, case storage, warehouse and offices totaling 5,000 square feet next to the family farm in Prosser marks the grand occasion. The Pontin family is no stranger to farming.

Since 1954 Nesto and Delores Pontin have been farming on the same land. They began as turkey farmers until 1967 and sold concord grapes for juice to Yakima Valley Grape Producers, now Welch's. The family also farmed wheat, mint, potatoes and sugar beets and later planted five varieties of apples, which they still farm.

Pontin del Roza translates roughly in Italian to mean "Pontin (Ponteen) family on the Roza". A pioneering spirit brought some of the Pontin family to the Yakima Valley over 65 years ago.  Nesto Pontin's father, Angelo, immigrated to the Valley planting terraced vineyards just as his family had done for centuries in Italy.  Today Pontin del Roza is a thriving estate winery with over 100 acres of 10 varietals including: Riesling, Malbec, Syrah, Dolcetto, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère and Petit Verdot. With production at around 4,500 cases per year, many grapes are still sold to other wine producers, as we desire to remain a small, family winery.
