Preparing for Communion Sunday

As we prepare to celebrate the Lord's Supper this coming Sunday, Scripture calls us to examine ourselves before God. Let's be sure to take some time this week to prepare ourselves so that we can come in the assurance that we will be spiritually revived, and strengthened in faith, hope, and love, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

 


 
How  do  I  prepare  myself  for  the  Lord's  Supper?   


You can prepare yourself by...
 
1. Self-Examination     1 Cor. 11:27
"Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord."
 
2. Confession of Sins     1 John 1:9 
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 
 
3. Recommitment      Rom. 12:1
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God --this is your spiritual act of worship."  
 
4. Restoring Relationships      Matt. 5:23-24
"Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift."
 
5. Anticipating Deeper Closeness and Joy through our Union with Christ      Eph. 3:17-19
"I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together will all the Lord's holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of  Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge-that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God."
