Do you know how to brush your pet's teeth?
Did you know that February is Pet Dental Health month?
This is the perfect time to start brushing your pet's teeth. To begin brushing your pets' teeth you want to go slow and praise your pet before, during and after. Approach your pet's mouth from the side. You can begin by using peanut butter or another flavor your pet enjoys and use your finger as the tooth brush. Brush in short, up and down motions in small circular patterns. Start in the back and work your way forward. Once your pet gets more comfortable you can start using a pet tooth brush and then gradually begin using dog or cat toothpaste. You never want to use human toothpaste because they contain detergents that can be harmful to pets.
To learn more about brushing your pet's teeth and to learn about pet CPR and First Aid email Haley Crawford at haley@secondhomepetresort.com.

Employee Spotlight:
Cody Cristel, Lead Guest Service Attendant
Cody has worked for Second Home Pet Resort for three and a half years. He came to Second Home with previous pet resort experience but says he likes it here much better. As a Lead Guest Service Attendant, Cody works hands on with our guests and also helps supervise the staff and ensure that everything goes according to plan. Cody's favorite thing about working at Second Home Pet Resort is being able to work with the adoptable dogs and cats and being there when they find their forever homes.
During his off time, Cody enjoys hiking and skateboarding with Kira, a 4 year old rescued Pit Bull. Cody aspires to be a dog trainer, but for now he is happy working at Second Home Pet Resort taking care of all of our clients' fur babies.

Meet Cres, the cutie with one blue and one brown eye |
Cres was turned into the shelter when the family had a

new baby. They assumed he would be bad with children, so he lost the only home he knew. He is 8 years old and a wonderful dog with a sweet temperament. Cres is deaf, but gets along just fine with his impairment. He is house trained and gets along nicely with other dogs and would do fine with older children. Dalmatians are active dogs and should go to an active home. A fenced yard is a requirement for Cres.
