Since 1895, the name of Cheval Noir is one of the oldest of the region of Bordeaux. Purchased in 1937, Cheval Noir is the first estate of the Mahler-Besse family whose domains, among the most beautiful of the Bordeaux region, currently span Haut-Medoc, Saint Emilion and Saint-Estephe appellations. This stunning St Emilion is comprised of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc.  Brilliant ruby purple color with deep red fruit and spicebox aromas,  silky fruit flavors with plum and dark berries with a hint of cinnamon and a nice lush smooth aftertaste. This is drinking well now through 2020.
