This is a historic Chateau! "Chateau de Chasseloir is a former earldom which belonged to the Leloup de Chasseloir family. This 14th and 15th century property overlooking the Maine was destroyed during the Wars of the Vendee. The only remains are a tower, some ramparts and a cellar. The Barrel cellar is unique in the Nantais vineyard with its old sculptured pillars, its Rabelaisian figurines, its windows evoking the vine and wine and its old wine-making tools: it's a real museum. The vineyard lies on a geological fracture of metamorphous soil composed of shale. The clay-enriched gneiss enables the roots of the vines to penetrate several metres down into the crumbly rock. The Chateau de Chasseloir Comte Leloup Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie is made exclusively from one hundred year old vines, the oldest Muscadet vines. Each year the grapes are picked by hand and vinified separately from the rest of the estate. The wine has an international reputation as being some of the best from the region!" The grape here is Melon de Bougogne, it offers lively fresh aromas of sea breeze. Ripe melon and light lemon peel, the palate is bursting with freshness with briny melon flavors and lively acidity and touch of mineral. It is distinctive, refreshing and delicious. The wine is dry, aromatic and floral, with tastes of apricot, peaches and pears. Drink now to 2017.

Jean-Claude Pichot's family is one of the oldest in Vouvray, with origins as viticulturists and restaurateurs dating back to 1739. The family cellars are located in the charming village of Vouvray, in caverns hewn from the rolling hills which were once quarried to provide stone to construct the grand châteaux of the Loire. In fact, the Pichot home is itself part house and part cavern, with a dramatic hearth carved from the rock. Jean-Claude was one of six sons, but the only one to continue the family tradition of vigneron. This is an amazing historical wine made from Chenin Blanc! Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 93 Points - "The blend for the 2010 Rioja Reserva varies depending on the growing season. In the warm and ripe 2009 it was 93% Tempranillo, 4% Mazuelo and 2% Graciano and 1% Garnacha Tinta, always from their own vineyards and hand-harvested between October 2 and 23. Maria the winemaker thinks the Garnacha does not add much to their blend. The grapes fermented separately in stainless-steel vats and the wine aged for 21 months in American oak barrels. There is gob-smacking precision and elegance here. It's a pure wine with no oak that is super harmonious, floral and fragrant. I simply fell in love with the nose. Now onto the palate. The entry is really fluid, and then it explodes in your mouth, filling it along a thread of fine acidity making it long and tasty. It has the same astonishing purity and harmony, focus and precision found in the nose. This has to be the best Reserva from Murrieta in recent times. Bravo! One million bottles produced, but all the wine is one single lot and all the bottles you can find are exactly the same just they are bottled continuously for four months. Mind boggling quality for the price asked."
