The Great Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon SALE!  Over 30 incredible wines including many top rated and collectible Cabs!
Notes from Doug

Many of you probably remember that first time you had a wine that wowed you.  For me it was early in my wine career in my mid 20's and I tasted a bottle of 1985 Chateau Montelena Napa Cabernet Sauvignon.  From that point on I tried many Cabs from other regions in California but always came back to Napa Cabs as ones that had a certain style and flavor profile that was unlike any other I had tasted. Napa Cabs of course were inspired by the great Bordeaux wines of the Medoc.  The early California wine pioneers wanted to emulate these great Bordeaux reds and show that California Cabs could stand up against these great wines of the world.  As we know the rest is history as Napa vintners were successful in this pursuit and today the great Cabs of Napa stand as a benchmark alongside the great Medoc reds as some of the finest wines in the world.  Today, I want to offer you the opportunity to access some of the greatest, top rated, rare and allocated and collectible Napa Cabernet Sauvignons.  I have compiled an incredible list of wines starting at under $20 bottle.  Most of these are from the incredible 2012 vintage and there are some incredible 2011's also. This is a great opportunity to acquire many outstanding wines and we are offering special pricing on mixed cases at 20% off!  So scroll down for all the wines and tasting notes and reply to this email to reserve yours today.

We thank you for your business and look forward to serving you soon!
cheers

(California) Rubus Napa Valley Old Vines Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Bottle $23.99 15% off mix 12 $20.39 20% off mix 12 $19.19

It's back and many of you will remember this Cab. The wine was sourced from producer that makes $100 Cabernets who had extra wine that he couldn't sell off so Kysela Pere et Fils purchased it at a huge discount, bottled it under their Rubus label again and is passing on the extraordinary savings for a world class Napa Cab! It certainly tastes like we should be selling it for a lot more than what we are asking! This Cab overdelivers in a big way, beautiful ruby purple color, aromas of black currant and ripe cherries, luscious full bodied yet balanced flavors of blackberry, currant and chocolate with just a hint of toasty oak. The tannins are refined and polished, allowing the fruit to be the focus which shines through from start to finish. This cab is drinking well now and will continue to improve through 2020. Don't miss it
The Rubus Concept - Rubus is a private label created and used by Kysela Pere et Fils, LTD in order to buy, bottle and market wine found at incredible quality/price ratio. All Rubus wines are selected by Fran Kysela MS.

Winemaker's Notes - Rich, vibrant purple and red hues present in this wine. Blackberry and ripe currant aromas combine with black pepper, anise, toasted oak and smoky roasted mocha. Flavors of black plum and cassis complement flavors of roasted coffee bean and licorice. This is a structured Cabernet Sauvignon with fine texture, length, flavor and style.

In 1992, the MacDonnell family made its very first barrel of wine using a handpicked selection of Cabernet from their Napa Valley Vineyards. Produced for family and friends, this homemade bottling sparked the MacDonnell family's passion for making wines and became the inspiration for today's Round Pond Estate.

Gallo Signature Series Napa Cabernet 2012

Bottle $41.99 15% off mix 6 $35.69
  20% off mix 12 $33.59

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 92+ PointsThe Signature Series 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon comes from two estate vineyards they own: the famous Monte Rosso Vineyard and the William Hill Estate Vineyard. This is a cross-valley blend of both Napa and Sonoma fruit. It's 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot aged 20 months in 60% new oak (40% was French and 20% American) and 40% used barrels. A good wine with 15.3% natural alcohol, it is full-bodied with a dense, ruby/purple color, lots of asphalt, loamy volcanic soil and smoky notes, blueberry and blackberry fruit, a nice touch of camphor and a luscious, heady, slightly tannic mouthfeel and finish. This is serious wine and they produced 5,180 cases. It should age well for 15-20 years.

Turnbull Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Bottle $52.99   15% off mix 6 $45.04   20% off mix 12 $42.39
SOLID CASE Deal $39.99

James Suckling 91 Points- "A very ripe red with dried fruit and lots of chewy tannins. Full and a little hot. Needs time to soften. Phenolic character and texture suggest cold soaking before fermentation which is a little annoying, but it should come together with bottle age. Better in 2017."

Chateau Montelena Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Bottle $54.99 15% off mix 6 $46.74  20% off mix 12 $43.99

James Suckling 93 Points - "A subtle red with red pepper, berry and sweet tobacco character. Full-bodied, balanced and refined. Very fine and polished tannins. Needs a few years to come completely around. Drink or hold."
Winemaker's Notes In the glass, aromas of ripe plum, raspberry, and strawberry jam co-mingle with a touch of vanilla and star anise. The bright ruby color belies a rich concentration and viscosity punctuated with blueberry and blackberry notes woven into chewy, ripe tannins. The rich acid backbone ties the palate together and aids the seamless transition into a finish layered with ripe cherries, baking spices, and cocoa.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 94 Points ""Already bottled, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Artemis is similar to its siblings. It offers delicious blackcurrant fruit, not as much complexity as the Fay or S.L.V., but an attractive meaty, rich blackcurrant fruitiness, well-integrated wood, and hints of spice and oak. Fleshy and medium-bodied but also made in the elegant style sought by this winery, it should drink well for 10-15 years."

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 91 Points "The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Family Reserve is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Howell Mountain. Notes of graphite, charcoal and earth set it apart from the 2012 Generations. It also offers notes of mocha, blackcurrants and black cherries in its rich, medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced personality. It is another impressive effort from Charles Krug to enjoy over the next 10-15 years. A note of trivia: This is Napa Valley's oldest winery, established in 1861."

Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Bottle $89.99   15% off mix 6 $76.49   20% off mix 12 $71.99

Over forty one years ago, Charlie and Lorna Wagner embarked on an incredible journey with their son Chuck - starting a family winery in the center of Napa Valley. Now in its third generation, Caymus continues to produce world class Cabernet Sauvignon.
Winemaker Notes - "The 2013 growing season was another great one in Napa Valley. Deep, red and opulent in color, this wine opens with the vibrant scent of dark cherry and blackberry, subtly layered with warm notes of vanilla. The palate is explosive, bright, balanced - cassis at the center, with flourishes of cocoa and sweet tobacco thatprovide nuance and continually shifting points of interest. Velvetymeshed tannins make this wine lush yet structured, with a texture that grabs attention, expands and unfolds. Fruit, oak and acidity are held in balance throughout the long, drawn-out finish."  RHWB - I suspect this will again garner high praise from Parker when he review its.  Drink now to 2025.
Critical Acclaim
Wilfred Wong 90 Points- "Does the Wagner family have a secret formula? The Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet is one of the wine world's most popular ultra-premium red wines and satisfies an incredible number of upscale wine lovers. Takes Napa Valley Cabernet into a new direction of super ripe fruit, rounded textures and ultra-lush finishes. Yes, this is a solid performance once again! Deep ruby, purple color; youthful aromas with lots of wood and vanilla; medium bodied, quite rounded and textured on the palate, precocious and wood-laced on the palate; dryish, good balance; loaded with vanilla, ripe currants and almost smoke in the flavors; long finish, wood and ripe fruit predominate in the aftertaste."

Oakville Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Bottle $94.99 15% off mix 6 $80.74  20% off mix 12 $75.99

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 95 Points"The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is dark as a moonless night, with classic blackcurrant, blackberry fruit, moving to blueberries, licorice, creosote and incense. Complex, full-bodied and concentrated, the wine is youthful and has good tangy acidity and sweet tannin. This is a beauty that should age effortlessly for 15-20 years."

Winemaker "The Oakville district is home to some of Napa Valley's most renowned Cabernets and the mountain vineyards of Oakville Ranch yield grapes with the deep cassis and classic berry flavors characteristic of the Ranch's red volcanic soil.

The 2012 Cabernet is a perfect expression of an excellent vintage in the Napa Valley, displaying dark cherry, cassis and fresh raspberry, with layers of cedar, clove, leather and black pepper. A fruit-forward wine with a juicy center, it opens with fresh fruits and finishes with coffee, tobacco and dark chocolate notes. The tannins are tight, fine-grained and supple, with a velvety middle and a long finish freshened with acidity."

Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

Bottle $125   15% off mix 6 $106.25   20% off mix 12 $100

Wine Spectator 92 Points - "Shows a good touch of bottle age and a notably oaky presence, marked by dill, vanilla bean and coconut notes wrapped around a rich, authoritative, full-bodied core of loamy earth, dark berry, licorice and espresso. Drink now through 2028."

Cakebread Cellars Vine Hill Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

Bottle $130 15% off mix 6 $110.50   20% off mix 12 $104

Distinctively high-toned, concentrated and complex aromas of earthy black fruits, violets, slate, dark chocolate and spice characterize the nose of our 2011 Vine Hill Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep, dense and powerful on the firmly structured palate, the wine's intense, dramatically concentrated blackcurrant, blackberry, dark plum and mineral flavors are bolstered by firm, yet refined tannins and balanced acidity, leading to a long, savory finish accented by earth, mineral, chocolate and toasted oak tones. Drink now to 2025.

Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Napa Valley SLV Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Bottle $140   15% off mix 6 $119   20% off mix 12 $112

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 94 Points"The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon S.L.V. Estate Grown is a beauty. A layered, lush, Pomerol-inspired Cabernet Sauvignon, it offers up notes of Christmas fruitcake, forest floor, underbrush, plums and red and blackcurrants. Sweet tannins, a succulent, fleshy mouthfeel, beautiful concentration and texture, and a long finish result in a sumptuous, irresistible mouthful of Cabernet Sauvignon. Enjoy it now and over the next 10-15 years."

Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Napa Valley FAY Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Bottle $140   15% off mix 6 $119   20% off mix 12 $112

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 96 Points"The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Fay Estate Grown possesses a complex bouquet of raspberries, blueberries, charcoal, graphite and spring flowers, abundant richness, and a medium to full-bodied, graceful mouthfeel with everything in perfect harmony. It exhibits gorgeous fruit, a complex personality, full body and terrific elegance and finesse. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2035."

Robert Mondavi Reserve Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

Bottle $150   15% off mix 6 $127.50   20% off mix 12 $120

Vinous / Antonio Galloni 94 Points - "The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve To Kalon Vineyard is the first year in which the Reserve is made exclusively from To Kalon fruit. The power and intensity of this site, along with the structure of the year, comes through loud and clear in a focused Cabernet Sauvignon loaded with class and personality. Bright floral, spiced and red-toned fruits are a reminder of the long, cool growing season. Readers should give the 2011 at least a few years in bottle. It will be interesting to see how the Reserve in its new incarnation develops. There appears to be plenty of potential though. The 100% new oak barrels are integrated beautifully."

Chateau Montelena Estate Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

Bottle $155 15% off mix 6 $131.75  20% off mix 12 $124

Vinous / Antonio Galloni 92 Points - "Bright ruby-red. Captivating, high-pitched aromas of cassis, licorice pastille, bitter chocolate, violet, rose petal and mocha. Juicy and tightly wound, with fresh acidity energizing the middle palate but keeping the wine's dark berry flavors restrained today. There's a lightly peppery quality that gives away the vintage, but this highly aromatic wine is a big success for the year and very well made."

Araujo Altagracia Napa Red 2012

Bottle $160   15% off mix 6 $136   20% off mix 12 $128

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 93 Points "Araujo's second wine, the 2012 Proprietary Red Altagracia exhibits beautiful blueberry, black raspberry and cassis fruit which reflects the purity that frequently comes from this vineyard. The tannins are soft, and the wine is lighter than its bigger sibling, but it possesses medium body, velvety tannin, and a gorgeous mouthfeel. Already approachable, this seductive, plush 2012 should age effortlessly for 10-15 years."

Hall Kathryn Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Bottle $165 15% off mix 6 $140.25  20% off mix 12 $132

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 97+ Points The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Kathryn Hall is largely sourced from their Sacrashe Vineyard. The color is dense ruby/purple. The wine is very young, and less evolved than many of its peers, but bursting with potential. Lots of blueberry and black raspberry fruit with a hint of mocha and background oak are all present in this full-bodied, opulent, absolutely spectacular Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a long-distance runner, although not so much because of the tannic structure, because the fruit seems younger and more primary than some of its siblings. Nevertheless, it is loaded with potential promise, and as Kathryn Hall says so frequently, "Magic." This full-bodied, classic Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa should hit its prime in 4-5 years and last at least two decades or more.

Kathryn Hall's winery is certainly one of the more dramatic as well as up-and-coming superstars of Napa Valley. It seems every effort is made to propel these wines into the very top echelon of quality. There is not a lot to criticize with the multitude of bottlings, all of which offer considerable character and appeal.

Far Niente Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Bottle $165 15% off mix 6 $140.25  20% off mix 12 $132

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 94 Points "A great effort from Far Niente in this truly magnificent vintage, with its similarities to 2002, the Far Niente 2012 Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon has a dense purple color, plenty of structure and aging potential, and an impressive inner core of sweet crème de cassis fruit, licorice and background vanilla. This wine is still very much an infant in its evolution, and should keep for 20-30 years. Many 2012s are excessively generous, open-knit and fleshy, but this is holding a lot back. And wow, it is "locked and loaded." I wouldn't be surprised to see this wine increase in score in about 5-10 years, and actually merit an even higher score. Bravo!"

Joseph Phelps Insignia 2012

Bottle $265  15% off mix 6 $225.50   20% off mix 12 $212

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 100 Points - "A magnificent Insignia that will be bottled in several months, it boasts an opaque purple color as well as fabulous notes of graphite, blackberries, blackcurrant liqueur, camphor, barbecue smoke and spice box. Rich, full-bodied and opulent with plenty of tannin and structure lurking beneath the extravagant generosity of fruit, this stunning 2012 should drink well for 25-30+ years. Range: 96-100"

Caymus Special Selection Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 1.5 Liter MAGNUMS (Very Limited)

Bottle $375   15% off mix 6 $318.75   20% off mix 12 $300

Wilfred Wong 98 Points- "I have been tasting the Caymus Special Selection Cabernet since the winery first vintage in 1975 and this is their best ever! The super fine 2012 Caymus Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon, from a superior year in the North Coast of California, shows incredible synergy of the elements: fruit, earth and wood. Everything here works so well, the wines high tannin levels are wrapped nicely with the wine's nicely extracted fruit. Make no mistake this wine represents Napa Valley royalty at its best."  RHWB  Drink now to 2030.

Bond Pluribus Red 2011 (Very Limited)

Bottle $480   15% off mix 6 $408   20% off mix 12 $384

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 95 Points "Displaying plenty of blueberry and black raspberry fruit, the soft, luscious 2011 Proprietary Red Blend Pluribus has more depth and concentration than it did from barrel. Full-bodied, opulent and complex, this beauty should drink nicely for 15-20 years. This highly successful project of Bill Harlan and his team from Harlan Estate and his newest, luxury project, Promontory, includes his winemaker Bob Levy and consulting oenologist Michel Rolland. All of these wines represent Bill Harlan's innovative concept of producing 100% Napa Cabernet Sauvignons from some of the region's finest microclimates and terroirs - all with different expositions and soil bases. Most of these vineyards are on long-term leases and are farmed by the Harlan team. To reiterate what I have written in the past, the five separate vineyard sites include the Melbury, which comes from a 7-acre parcel of sedimentary and clay soils on the steep slopes of Pritchard Hill east of Rutherford, and the Pluribus, which is the northern-most vineyard, seven acres in size, planted on Spring Mountain at a high elevation of 1,000 feet in a white, volcanic bedrock called tufa. The most southerly vineyard is Vecina, an 11-acre site planted at a 200-300-foot elevation situated adjacent to Harlan Estate in the Oakville Corridor. St. Eden is an 11-acre vineyard in the gentle foothills north of the Oakville Crossroads. Lastly, the Quella cuvée comes from a 9-acre site in the eastern foothills of St. Helena with an interesting terroir of alluvial pebbles and small rocks that is believed to be an old riverbed. These wines are all aged in 100% new oak and are fashioned from very low yields. Those barrels deemed unworthy of single-vineyard status are blended together and bottled under the Matriarch label."

Bond Quella Red 2011 (Very Limited)

Bottle $480   15% off mix 6 $408   20% off mix 12 $384

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 93 Points The 2011 Quella Proprietary Red Blend is performing better from bottle than it did last year from barrel. Lots of black raspberry and blueberry fruit intermixed with notes of wet rocks and spring flowers jump from the glass of this medium-bodied, fleshy, beautifully evolved 2011 that is already showing secondary nuances and complexity. This vintage offers immediate gratification and drinkability. It should age effortlessly for another decade or more.

Bond St. Eden 2011 (Very Limited)

Bottle $480   15% off mix 6 $408   20% off mix 12 $384

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 95 Points "The 2011 Proprietary Red Blend St. Eden is even better than it was last year from the barrel. This is always a great sign and reflects not only excellent winemaking, but meticulous élevage and bottling techniques. One of the superstars of this much maligned vintage, this beauty offers up notes of forest floor, Christmas fruitcake, cedar, blackcurrants and sweet cherries. Broad, savory, full-bodied and opulent, it is already complex and delicious, and should continue to provide immense pleasure for 10-15 more years."

Bond Vecina 2011 (Very Limited)

Bottle $480   15% off mix 6 $408   20% off mix 12 $384

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 94 Points "The 2011 Vecina Proprietary Red Blend possesses Pauillac-like notes of scorched earth, new saddle leather, spice box, vanillin and blackcurrants. With great fruit, stunning depth and a distinctive earthiness, this open-knit, opulent, juicy, fleshy 2011 should drink well for 15-20 years."

Araujo Napa Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard 2010 (Very Limited)

Bottle $575   15% off mix 6 $488.75   20% off mix 12 $460

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 98 Points Araujo's 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard is a picture perfect example of the year. Vibrant, precise and beautifully chiseled, the 2010 boasts serious depth and concentration. The aromas and flavors are incredibly vivid in this textured, dazzling Cabernet Sauvignon. Hints of dark blue and black fruit, mocha, espresso and grilled herbs flesh out on the huge finish. Today the 2010 is unusually open, but it is almost certain to shut down in bottle over the next 6-12 months. The 2010 is a super-classic Eisele Cabernet Sauvignon from Araujo. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2035.

Araujo Napa Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard 2011 (Very Limited)

Bottle $575   15% off mix 6 $488.75   20% off mix 12 $460
98 points James Suckling *Top 100 Wines of 2014* Compelling aromas of black fruits such as brambleberries, plus blueberries and fresh mushrooms. Asphalt, too. Forest fruits. The tannins just melt into the wine as you taste it. Aristocratic and regal in style and length. A powdery, fascinating texture. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink now, but better in 2017. (5/2014)
96 points Antonio Galloni "Araujo has long made some of the more restrained Cabernets in Napa Valley. The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard is one of the more Left Bank inflected wines in the estate's distinguished history. Beautifully layered and expressive, the 2011 graces the palate with exquisite finesse and total harmony. The 2011 isn't a huge, explosive wine like the 2010 or 2009, but it stands out for its exceptional length and vibrancy. Readers should not expect an obvious Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. I imagine the 2011 will still be marvelous at age 30, and I won't be surprised if it is one day regarded as one of the great, iconic wines of the vintage. The 2011 has been truly special since I started tasting the single blocks in the Spring of 2012. The blend is 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. (96+) (11/2013) "
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 95 Points" The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard is simply beautiful. It is easily one of the most complete and compelling wines of the vintage. Rich, flashy and open, especially within the context of the vintage, the 2011 impresses for its depth and polish. Layers of blue and black fruit, savory herbs, mint and licorice come together in this complete Cabernet. A model of total class and elegance, the 2011 is simply remarkable for the year. This is one of the few wines of the vintage with real potential not just for the near-term, but also for the future. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2026. (AG) (12/2012)"
