 (France) Cave de Labastide Gaillac Grand Reserve 2014

Gaillac is North of the Pyrenees and to the Southwest of Bordeaux and is one of the lesser-known wine regions of France. Some wines you may know from here are Cahors and Gascogny blanc. Gaillac, also know for rich reds, makes some beautiful fresh whites from a blend of grapes. Here this refreshing white is a blend of the Mauzac, Loin de l'oeil, and the familiar Sauvignon Blanc grapes. It has a zesty fresh fruit aroma with lemon peel and hint of grapefruit, on the palate it is juicy with more of a ripe pear and light crisp citrus note on a long lively finish. This is my new favorite summer white. If you have enjoyed wines like Picpoul in the past then you will love this! The perfect wine for a hot day. Drink now to 2016.

Unbelievable Value! We sold out of this the first time we offered it and the new vintage is nothing short of Spectacular! It has a generous Black fruit aromas and flavors, complex, fruit driven and luscious on the palate with a beautiful long finish, due to the ageing in oak barrels, delivering some vanilla, coffee and caramel type of flavors. The oak, nonetheless is very integrated and the wine is already showing some juicy and round tannins. Ready to be enjoyed now to 2017. Buy it by the case! The wine was made in honor of Don Antonio Diaz R, a pioneer in the agroindustrial and wine development in the province of San Juan at the beginning of the twentieth century
