Many of you are familiar with the iconic Cabs from Caymus in Napa Valley. As many of you know Caymus Vineyards produces two Cabernets Sauvignons - a "Napa Valley" and the venerable "Special Selection". Both Cabernet bottlings have aromas and flavors which can only be achieved through "hang time" - a technique which chances the loss of crop if early winter sets in. Leaving the fruit to "hang" on the vine unusually long develops suppleness, increases color, and matures the tannins of the grapes. The wines are abundant in textural tannins yet soft as velvet. Caymus Special Selection is the flagship wine of the Wagner family and is comprised of the very best barrels of the vintage. This wine is only produced in the best vintages and is limited in availabilty.   

Last year the 2012 Napa Bottling was rated 96 Points Robert Parker and the Napa Special Selection 2011 was rated 95 Points Robert Parker. We are happy to announce the release of the 2013 Napa Cabernet (90 Points Wilfred Wong) and the 2012 Napa Special Selection (98 Points Wilfred Wong) which is the 40^th anniversary Vintage of this incredible wine. If you follow Wilfred's ratings he tends to always but a few points lower than Parker so I suspect the Parker reviews will be higher.  Don't miss these incredible Napa Cabs. Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Over forty one years ago, Charlie and Lorna Wagner embarked on an incredible journey with their son Chuck - starting a family winery in the center of Napa Valley. Now in its third generation, Caymus continues to produce world class Cabernet Sauvignon.

Winemaker Notes - "The 2013 growing season was another great one in Napa Valley. Deep, red and opulent in color, this wine opens with the vibrant scent of dark cherry and blackberry, subtly layered with warm notes of vanilla. The palate is explosive, bright, balanced - cassis at the center, with flourishes of cocoa and sweet tobacco thatprovide nuance and continually shifting points of interest. Velvetymeshed tannins make this wine lush yet structured, with a texture that grabs attention, expands and unfolds. Fruit, oak and acidity are held in balance throughout the long, drawn-out finish."  RHWB - I suspect this will again garner high praise from Parker when he review its.  Drink now to 2025.
