First, you may have noticed our new logo above and new name.  As many of you know we have always carried a large selection of craft beers and we have expanded our selection greatly over the last 3 months.  We thought is was time to let everyone know that we do more than just wine.  So next time you are in check out all of our new great Beers! 

Now onto the wines!  Today, I met with the winery rep from Rodney Strong and we tasted through an incredible lineup.  All of the wines I tasted were well made and great value.  Some of you jumped on the Alexander Valley Cab last time we offered it and the new 2012 vintage is just as stunning.  For under $19 with discount, this Cab easily competes against others who charge 2-3 times the price. It has wow factor and complexity that will remind you why Cab is still the king of Red wine! Rodney Strong Sonoma Chardonnay 2013

 Rodney Strong barrel fermented 60% of this wine and aged that portion in barrel for six months, stirring the lees every month. This method offers the wine a touch of brown spice and vanilla, while cold fermenting the remainder to maximize a fresh fruit-forward character. Bright lemon and apple aromas mingle with hints of toasty barrel complexity, while on the palate your taste buds will enjoy pear, pineapple, baking spices and refreshing acidity.

Winemaker - Barrel fermentation in new and seasoned French oak added toasty vanilla and spice complexities. During the eleven months of barrel aging, we regularly stirred the "lees" in barrel, and later in tank, which imparts an elegant fullness and creamy texture on the palate. In the glass, the wine is both creamy and crisp, with golden delicious yellow apple, baked pie spices and a hint of minerality on the long finish.

Enjoy over the next one to three years with lobster, herb crusted halibut with a minted sweet pea puree or grilled veal chops with sauteed mushrooms.

The 2013 Estate Russian River Valley Pinot Noir has lovely aromas of cherry and rose petals. With a soft and silky texture on the palate, cherries, pomegranate, floral and baking spice characteristics shine through with balance, acidity and a nice lingering finish. This medium bodied wine was aged for 13 months in small French oak barrels, which added a hint of toasty vanilla and spice complexity. Enjoy this Pinot Noir now with a roasted chicken with a red wine butter reduction sauce, roasted pork loin or wild mushrooms over polenta or cellar it for enjoyment for the next two to four years.
