Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 92 Points  "The 2008 Monteviejo is a blend of 70% Malbec and 30% Syrah raised 50% in new French oak. It has a fragrant, floral bouquet with saturated dark cherries, blueberry and crushed violets. It offers a lovely pastille note with continued aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a velvety entry, good acidity and an engaging purity. It is rounded and sensual with seductive black cherries and blueberry towards the composed, long finish. This is a lovely Argentinean red. Drink now-2017."

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 94 Points  "The 2011 Punta Negra is a single vineyard Pinot Noir located at 1,500 meters at the foot of the Andes. After a double grape selection, it is aged in an old cask dating from 1948, which I presume is still under warranty from its original maker, one Mr. Alfonso. It has a very natural nose of red currant, cranberry and baked cherry that is beautifully defined and full of character. The palate is medium-bodied with acidity and filigree tannins. The finish is very precise, with cranberry leaf and wild strawberry lingering long in the mouth. This is a stunning take on Pinot Noir. Drink now-2018."

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 93 Points  "The 2009 Lindaflor has an unashamedly extravagant bouquet that is a worthy follow-up to the 2008. It bestows sublime aromas of blood orange and marmalade that infuses sweet cassis fruit, yet dextrously swerves away from being overbearing. The palate is full-bodied, with succulent ripe dark cherry fruit and notes of dark chocolate, blood orange, chestnut and citrus peel, a hint of mocha joining the chorus line on the finish. Excellent. Drink 2013-2020.

I tasted the wines of Monteviejo at both proprietor Catherine Pere-Verge's estate in Bordeaux, Chateau Le Gay, and then in Mendoza itself. It was a pleasure to meet winemaker Marcelo Pelleriti, a supremely talented rock star whose career somehow took him to the Uco Valley and Pomerol instead of the Donnington Rock Festival. Music's loss is our gain. The wines from Monteviejo are decadent and ravishing, modern wines that are voluminous and rich in the mouth, yet retain balance and freshness from start to finish."
