It means 'green wine' or 'young wine' and originated in the historic Minho province in the far north of Portugal and was officially designated in 1908. Made from local grapes such as Loureiro, Arinto, Trajadura, Avesso and Azal, it is a light, fresh and fruity wine with green apple notes and a slight effervescence.
