SAVE Launches National Outreach Network
Volunteers across the country are banding together to support SAVE's newest program, the National Outreach Network (NON), to spread the word about suicide prevention and mental health awareness. Launched in March 2013, NON plans to distribute SAVE materials in communities throughout the U.S. using local volunteers.

2013 Youth Summit Reaches Minnesota Teens High school PSA winners announced
More than sixty high school students from across Minnesota gathered in Bloomington in early fall 2012 on a three-day mission to learn about mental heath, suicide prevention and a team competition to highlight their creative talents in designing a media campaign for their peers. The event was funded by a grant from the Minnesota Department of Health.
After mental health professionals engaged students in a broad range of topics---including safe and effective messaging for suicide prevention, mental health and wellness, resiliency, team building, conflict resolution and coping skills for stress---students formed teams to develop multi-media public awareness campaigns.

SAVE Kicks Off Event Season With Fashion Show Featuring Professional Designers
On Thursday, May 30, SAVE successfully kicked off the event season with the 8th Annual Fashion Show at the Nicollet Island Pavilion in Minneapolis. This year's show included spectacular fashion by professional designers Tony Eliason and Lauren Peyton, Cynthia Rae, Tamara Cutsforth, Ayah Ahmed, Unna Le Uqar and Caroline Hayden. Emceeing the show was Dez from KS95 radio and WeatherNation founder, Paul Douglas.

Shauna Case Joins SAVE as Celebrity Ambassador
Teen star speaks out for suicide prevention
Efforts to raise teen and young adult awareness about suicide prevention and mental illness received a huge boost of support when 15-year-old actor-singer Shauna Case recently stepped up to become a celebrity ambassador for SAVE. One of the stars of Cartoon Network's sketch comedy show, Incredible Crew, Shauna chose to work with SAVE because of the organization's solid presence in the mental health community.

SAVE Sponsors Native American Initiative
Media blitz raises
awareness statewide
For the past fifteen years in the Native American and Alaska Native communities, suicide has been the second leading cause of death among 15-24 year-olds, at a rate that is three times the national average. This sobering statistic led SAVE to lead an initiative involving an all-out media blitz during 2012 to build awareness for resources to combat suicide in Minnesota's Native American communities.

Experienced Volunteer Joins SAVE Team
Meet Jennifer Owens
Jennifer Owens is no newcomer to the volunteer scene. While a student at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD), where she earned a B.A. in international studies with a minor in geography, Jennifer completed an internship with Safe Haven Shelter for Battered Women in Duluth and volunteered with the American Red Cross, Northland Chapter. Among these activities, she also found time to mentor ninth-grade students from across the Duluth-Superior region with the Northland Foundation's KIDS PLUS Leadership Academy.
