FROM THE HEART         NEWS FROM KIDS FIRST
NOVEMBER 2013

Greetings to our friends and supporters,

I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many divorce professionals from Maine and New England who attended our Annual Fall Conference held at the Harraseeket last week, "Getting From "No Way" to "OK."  Also, to those wonderful 17 Southern Maine divorce experts who comprised our panels, we are extremely grateful for your patience and expertise.  This panel-only format was new for us, and you all did a great job and were very well received!  By all accounts the event was one of the most well-attended and engaging conferences we have had in recent years.

In other news, we are excited to be offering a new free evening workshop this month entitled, "Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender Families: Parenting Through Separation, Transition & Divorce." This promises to be an informative and supportive evening shared with Frank Brooks, Ph.D. and Susan Wiggin, LMSW.  We hope you can join us, or pass along the information to someone you know could benefit from this discussion.

Meanwhile, have a safe and happy Halloween!

Warmest regards,

Mary Swann

DIVORCE BRINGS CREATIVE HOLIDAY CHANGE cornucopia

As the holiday season approaches,
Kids First has had requests to re-run an article that we used last year at this time, written by a parent who had attended one of our programs.  This divorced parent put a great, positive spin on facing the challenges of spending a holiday without the children  - take a page from this playbook and remember, real holidays with your child happen when you make them!
HOLIDAY TIPS
And while we're at it, if you like lists, here are some great tips we've come up with to help you through the next few months.
