FROM THE HEART         NEWS FROM KIDS FIRST
March 2013

Greetings to our friends and supporters,

We try to avoid it, but sometimes we just can't refrain from commenting on the weather! We hope you are not all buried in snow from this relentless winter, and that you're looking forward to something fun and springy in your future such as, say, the KIDS FIRST GALA/AUCTION COMING UP ON MAY 16TH!

Meanwhile, the month of March is busy at Kids First with the six-week Separation & Divorce Support Groups for Children and Adolescents starting up next week on the 5th and 6th. We will also be starting a four-week session of the Next Step: Putting Conflict Aside program. Separation, Divorce & Dads will meet on March 5th, and the Kids First Program will be meeting on March 2nd and 16th.  At this moment, there is still space available in all of these classes/groups except for the kids' group for 4th to 6th graders (Group II).

Please review the schedule below for details. And as always, don't hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.

Warmest regards,

Peg Libby

Being a Single Dad father

For most men, taking full responsibility for the kids after separation and divorce is a first-time experience, just as it is for most women.  But say 'single dad' and we picture a lummox like what is portrayed in the movies.  In fact, becoming a real single dad after divorce - usually part time, but sometimes full-time - is not only a challenge, but an absolute gift and privilege.  William McCloskey is a single dad who writes for the New York Times - read below to hear his take on the subject.
