Fun Learning with the Holiday Link Up
Do you enjoy using seasonal activities with your students? If so, you'll love this Holiday Learning Link Up on my Corkboard Connections blog. Over a dozen bloggers have shared some of their favorite activities for the holidays, and all of the activities are appropriate for upper elementary students.
Sugar Cone Christmas Trees
As my featured activity in the link up, I wrote about one of my very favorite lessons - having students create Sugar Cone Christmas Trees by reading a recipe and following the directions. I created a set of reading comprehension test questions to go along with it. Visit the Holiday Learning Link Up to learn more about this lesson and other learning activities for this time of year.

New Freebies on the Seasonal Resources Page
I've added a few more freebies and other resources to my Seasonal page on Teaching Resources, so be sure to pop over there and take a look. If you enjoy using cooperative learning in your classroom, take a look at the Gifts of Appreciation freebie on that page. It's a great way for students to show appreciation to their teammates.

LauraCandler.com Shortcuts on Pinterest
If you've spent much time on my website, you'll know that there are dozens of pages that are packed with resources, many of them free! In fact, there are so many pages that sometimes it's hard to remember how to find the exact page you need. That's why I created a brand-new Pinterest board called LauraCandler.com Shortcuts. This board has colorful and descriptive pins for all the main pages on my website. All you need to do is click through the the board, follow it, and pin the yellow apple image to one of your own boards. From this board, you can easily get to just about any section of my website. Furthermore, it's a great place to find new pages as I continue to update my website. By the way, while you are on Pinterest, why not take a look at all my boards? They are all educational, and if you click the Follow Me link at the top, you'll always know when I add new freebies to my site or to my TpT store.

Winter Holidays Teaching Tips and Freebies for
Grades 3 to 6
50+ Pages of Freebies
from Top TpT Sellers!
Last year Rachel Lynette of the Minds in Bloom blog came up with a terrific idea to compile a booklet of holiday freebies from TpT sellers. She generously donated hours of her time for this project and created a fabulous booklet that has been downloaded almost 50,000 times! This year she's back with another great Winter Holiday packet with all new freebies from TpT sellers. The pages are beautifully designed, and each page includes one or two freebies and a holiday teaching tip. Because the booklet is so colorful, you probably won't want to print the pages. It's designed so that you can browse the pages online and click directly on each item to visit its download page. If you guessed that I contributed a page to this collection, you're right! How long will it take you to find my two freebies and my holiday tip? :-)
By the way, you can find a primary and a secondary version of this booklet. Just download the Grade 3 -6 version and you'll find the information about the other ones on the first page. Thanks, Rachel, for coordinating the Grade 3 -6 Winter Holidays booklet!
