Impact IQ featured SJF Ventures III, LP, in a recent article, citing SJF's successful track record. SJF's third fund has been by capitalized by leading banks, foundation endowments, pension and mutual funds, family offices and accredited individual investors. The final closing on the fund will be in April and a closing reception for all SJF III investors will be held in New York in May.

TBLI Conference in New York  

The first TBLI Conference to be held in the US will be in New York on June 17-18.   SJF Ventures has participated in TBLI events in Europe and won an impact investing award at TBLI's fall conference in Zurich.  The upcoming event will provide a rewarding opportunity to learn and network with international impact investors. 

SJF Ventures Invests in Sustainable Food Technology Company Aseptia

SJF Ventures has invested in Aseptia, a sustainable food processing technology company.  Aseptia's novel and patented technology enables the production of shelf-stable food products that maintain the flavors and nutrients of fresh food without the use of preservatives or refrigeration.  SJF participated in Aseptia's $6 million Series C financing, which also included angel investors and management. Read the full press release.

ERC new logoeRecyclingCorps (eRC) announced it has completed 10 million wireless device trade-ins since its inception in 2009. Collection volumes tripled in 2012 to more than seven million devices. Through its operations in North America and Europe, the company is processing 20,000 device trade-ins per day. These trade-ins provide a new revenue stream for wireless carriers, produce a supply of high-quality technologies that can help bridge the digital divide, and divert e-waste from landfills and water resources. eRC  also announced in January that it has  achieved Responsible Recycling (R2) and Recycling Industry Operation Standards (RIOS) certifications, demonstrating that eRC is operating at the highest industry standards.

   

Optoro announced a $7.5 million  Series A investment led by Grotech Ventures. Previous investors SJF Ventures and QED also participated in the round. Optoro helps retailers and manufacturers process and remarket returned, overstock, and damaged-box products.

   

grosolar logo groSolar won awards for three solar photovoltaic projects constructed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The three projects - Longwood Gardens, Keystone Solar, and Camden Solar Center - were completed in 2012, each with very different unique engineering requirements. The projects provide approximately 10 MW of solar capacity. The Keystone Solar project, the largest in Pennsylvania, was  developed by  SJF portfolio firm Community Energy, a leading renewable Community Energyenergy developer and marketing company.   

 

 

MediaMath logoMediaMath reported that it has acquired the Advertising Decision Solutions unit of Akamai (NASDAQ: AKAM).  The new unit will give customers a more effective set of tools for managing their data and understanding their audience. MediaMath now serves over half of Fortune 500 brands.

  

EdMap LogoEDMAP announced that it has partnered with American Public University System to streamline digital course materials delivery. The enhanced distribution will help engage students and reduce the impact of textbook inflation. EDMAP also has partnered with AcademicPub to provide custom content affordably for higher education.
