SJF Ventures Wins Impact Investing Award
SJF Ventures won the 2012 TBLI ESG Leaders Award at the TBLI fall conference in Zurich, Switzerland. The jury of investment professionals chose SJF Ventures III, LP, as the "Best Impact Investing Product" from a set of funds nominated from the North America and Europe. David Kirkpatrick and Arrun Kapoor from SJF presented at the Zurich conference, which convened impact investment practitioners from around the world.
SJF Ventures has now closed on a majority of its $75 million third fund with U.S. bank, foundation, family office, and mutual fund investors. With the upcoming final closing, SJF expects to add strategic European and Asian investors that are active in impact investing, resource efficiency and sustainability - enhancing SJF's ability to assist portfolio companies in their international expansion.

eRecyclingCorps appointed Jean-Francois Rallet Managing Director of European Operations. Rallet most recently served as vice president of Continental Europe for Verizon Wireless. eRC now operates in ten countries at more than 10,000 retail locations. The company is on track to complete more than seven million mobile device trade-ins worldwide in 2012. A recent story in Sustainable Brands highlighted the company's progress in improving the environment and reducing the digital divide.
BioSurplus will celebrate the grand opening of its 20,000 sq. ft. lab equipment showroom in Boston on Dec. 6. The expansion will also bring lab equipment service & repair to the biotech community throughout the greater Boston area.
FieldView Solutions was named the Enviro/Energy Company of the Year by the New Jersey Technology Council. The company's data center infrastructure management software has been selected by three of the world's largest banks and nine of the Fortune 250 enterprise organizations.
ServiceChannel has appointed industry veteran Bob Solomon to be president of the company. Solomon was in charge of Ariba's fastest growing and most profitable unit before joining ServiceChannel. SJF Institute and IC recently announced a new partnership with the newly launched Social Entrepreneurship Accelerator at Duke University (SEAD), a development lab for scaling innovations in global health. The Accelerator has been funded by a $10M grant from USAID as part of their Higher Education Solutions Network (HESN) initiative. SJFI and IC will prepare SEAD entrepreneurs to raise capital, increase the global health deal pipeline, and cultivate a global health-focused investment community. This innovative collaboration is a great sector-specific model that IC is excited to replicate with additional sector tracks.
