  Opportunities
Volunteer Opportunity

Parents and other CSS community professionals: Do you work the field of psychology or psychiatry? Or does your work involve a significant knowledge of or training in psychology? Ms. Taylor's Advanced Placement Psychology class has completed the annual test, and now we are investigating real-world applications of the discipline. In the next three weeks, students will be selecting individual topics that interest them, researching and talking to working professionals wherever possible. If you are willing to help a junior or senior in our Upper School, please email Ms. Taylor at ataylor@css.org. Please include the best times and manner to contact you, and mention what kind of psychology-related work you do. Thank you in advance for sharing your expertise!
Recruiting Ambassador Families
Welcoming New Families To Our Community!

CSS will be welcoming several new families for the upcoming 2016-2017 school year and we would love your help! We connect each new student/family with an Ambassador family in their grade level to help guide them through their first year with us. This program is an important part of growing our community and making sure that families joining us feel supported through their transitions and a part of CSS!

Interested? Please call Maggie the Admission Office at (719) 434-3500 and she can talk to you more about the program. We are looking for one Ambassador Family in each Children's School grade level and two families for Middle School and Upper School.

Achievements

AP Exams and Finals
As our students push through these last weeks of school we know many of them are engaged in Advanced Placement exams to determine college credit and final projects and exams. We extend our admiration to them as they put their knowledge to the test.

Fifth grade anatomy final on the human body and systems. Can you locate the digestive system and the endocrine system?

Applause for Bye Bye Birdie

Congratulations to the cast, crew, and orchestra of Bye Bye Birdie. Despite a delayed opening night due to a spring snow storm, the theatre was on fire with an energetic performance of Bye Bye Birdie. Our students shined on stage, made magic happen with set changes, and you can't have a musical without a rockin' orchestra.

Check out our Instagram feed to watch several video clips of the performances.

Colorado Expeditions and Seminars With day excursions to area attractions and overnights around the state, our Children's School students are preparing for incredible Colorado Expeditions. In the Middle School, seminars will get started on Monday as well as the 8th Grade Walkabout. Stay tuned to Facebook for a few glimpses reported on these culminating learning experiences.
Submit Achievements and Photos
Parents and teachers are encouraged to submit nominations and digital photos of student achievements to Jessica James, Director of Communications, at jjames@css.org. These extracurricular achievements make us a well-rounded school and highlight the many unique talents and passions of our student body.  Each week, a diverse selection of achievements is highlighted in ROAR.

2015-2016 Parent Survey

Annually, The Colorado Springs School distributes and encourages participation in the parent survey as a means of reflecting on the school year. The information from these surveys have helped us immensely in the past few years. It has encouraged us to keep investing resources in the programs that people appreciate, and it has helped us give thoughtful consideration to areas in need of improvement. Your comments have advanced the school and allowed us to better serve our families. The surveys have shown us that our families understand the school's mission, and appreciate how it translates into student experiences. Because this input is so helpful, we appreciate you taking the time to thoughtfully respond to this year's parent survey.

Electronic invitations to the survey were sent on Monday.
CSS Safety Concern: Parking Notice

Recently, representatives of the Colorado Springs Police and Fire departments have contacted the school and asked us to
enforce the no parking policy on Hutton Lane (access road along Boddington Field) during all CSS events including sports practices and, critically, soccer and lacrosse game days on Boddington Field. From this point forward we will be assisting both the police and the fire department in enforcing these no parking zones. Please know that we requested additional signage to more clearly show these no parking zones on Hutton Lane.

The underlying reasons behind these parking policies are clear. Illegally parked cars along Hutton Lane significantly increase the risk of a pedestrian/vehicle collision by diminishing the lines of sight, driver reaction times, and space available on this road. Additionally, illegally parked cars limit emergency vehicle access through Hutton Lane and onto The Colorado Springs School campus.
