A ROARing Success: Fun Run and Carnival Results

In late September, more than 300 members of the CSS community stepped away from their everyday responsibilities to take part in the annual Fun Run & Carnival. Kodiak blue skies were enjoyed on the Quad where food, games, and fun were in generous supply. A special shout out to our Fun Run Sponsors for helping kick off festivities with a brisk jaunt around campus.

It could have been that many of us were still flying high from the Fall Adventures or trips to Pikes Peak and Frontier Ranch that occurred in the weeks before. It could have been that we were excited from the first day of school in August. Or perhaps it was anticipation for Revue and Homecoming. Whatever the reason we were in giving spirits and funds raised reflected that. Approximately $10,490.00 was generated to use by CSS classrooms, clubs and organizations for continuing the endeavor of
superior academics and mentoring for our students. Thank you for your support!

Claremont Society Reception Applauds Leadership and Lifetime Giving

Gathered in the Silver Room of the Mining Exchange, Head of School, Mr. Aaron Schubach welcomed and thanked leadership donors for participating in the launch of the 2015-2016 Annual Fund. Student musicians performed and student artwork adorned the walls as a point of celebration and connection illustrating how Annual Fund dollars allow us to "say yes to students" and provide enriching educational experiences throughout the year.

Those contributing $1500 or more to the Annual Fund were honored with an invitation to the Claremont Society reception. The evening was graciously hosted by Lorn and Perry Sanders, the owners of Springs Orleans and The Mining Exchange. Guests dined on a buffet of New Orleans inspired small bites and desserts. A buzz of enthusiasm filled the room as the initial Claremont Challenge had been exceeded with 49 donors contributing leadership gifts. With $150,000 in gifts and pledges secured, the Annual Fund is well on its way to reaching the $275,000 goal. Lorie and Clint Malone were recognized for funding the $10,000 challenge grant and inspiring others to give. Mr. Schubach applauded the many ways...(story continued,

Learning is on the "rise"

PreK ventured to Olde World Bagels as part of their theme: Explore Our City. The children learned to make bagels, studied the important role of yeast, and toured the commercial kitchen. As always Olde World was a perfect host for these curious minds.

Learning is on the rise with our youngest students!

Service Learning Prepares Students for A Dynamic World

Each semester Middle and Upper School students stretch their muscles within the community by partnering with local non-profits. Service learning days not only build community among our student body but provide students with perspectives on the important and mission-critical roles or volunteerism in the third sector. Long-standing partnerships with Venetucci Farm and Rocky Mountain Field Institute allowed students to assist in cleaning out the fields at the farm and rebuilding heavily used trails in Garden of the Gods park.

Halloween Celebrations

From costume parades, to pumpkin carving contests and classroom parties, Halloween traditions are alive at CSS. Students showed their creativity and spirit while parents matched this enthusiasm with inspired games, activities and clever treats.

Students in all grade levels had the opportunity to dress up on Friday in honor of the holiday.

Research Project for Citizen Scientists
The Upper School Research and Experimentation Class at CSS is doing an experimental project and we invite you to participate as citizen scientists.

We propose to collect information on all of the large predators in our region. Here's what we'd like you to help us with:

Any time you see a large predator (listed below), please report it to us via email at research@css.org and tell us exactly where and when you saw it. Any other relevant information is useful too, such as if it was eating a squirrel or leading its babies around. Perhaps we can note the last bear wandering around before hibernation begins!

Any of the following animals is on our target list:
Mountain lion, Bear, Coyote, Fox, Bobcat.

The current project will only be active until December 5, 2015. Let us hear from you! We'll post the map at school when we're finished. Thank you very much for helping with this study.
