  Reminders
Summer Communications

During the summer, monthly special editions of ROAR will be distributed in the first week of June, July, and August.  These summer editions of ROAR will be chocked-full of important messages --- such as summer reading lists, directions for completing medical paperwork, school supply lists, parent and student handbooks, volunteer opportunities, notices regarding the lunch program and bus stops, and we will highlight beginning-of-the-year events, to prepare you for a successful 2015-2016 school year. These important documents and critical forms will be called The Dean's Packet!

You can also stay connected to CSS over the summer, by tuning into the new website and following us on Facebook

Dean's Packet
Please use this Dean's Packet as a road map to planning the 2015-2016 school year. Many of these important documents and forms require completion by a parent/guardian no later than Monday, August 3, 2015.

*All medical information must be updated in RenWeb no later than Monday, August 3, 2015.

Physicals are required state-wide every year for all students, and because appointments for physicals fill up quickly during the months of June, July and August, it is strongly suggested you call your doctor now to make this appointment. Eagle Scout Project Focuses on Sundial Restoration
Gabe G.,
a rising 9th grade student at CSS, implemented the plans of his Eagle Scout project for Boy Scouts during the first weekend of summer break. The work included restoring the finish on the CSS sundial and repainting the hour lines. The sundial on campus was originally designed and erected through the ambitions of an Upper School ECS. The complexity of the restoration project included: organizing 240 manhours and involving 27 adult and 13 youth volunteers drawn from BSA & CSS to see the process through from idea to approval to funding to the final coat of paint, while trying to plan work and drying time around thunderstorms, sleet, snow and hail.

The project received strong support from Boy Scout Troop 1, CSS staff and student volunteers -- Matthew P., Meredith B., John N. and Miles G. -- as well as generous contributions from Thomas General Contractors, Sharon Knehans, Colleen and Brad Peterson, Arnold and Joyce Swanke, and Coral Knehans.
