Persistence

We looked into the last part of Mark chapter 7 and saw
the interesting stories of Jesus' interaction with a Gentile woman and a deaf man.

In both of these stories, we see the persistence of those who want Jesus to work on their behalf!  Do we have the same persistence to see Jesus work in our lives?

In the Gentile woman's case, her daughter was possessed by a demon and she reasoned with Jesus and presented such a compelling argument that Jesus moved in concert with her desires! God moved in her favor!

In the deaf man's case, the crowd was begging Jesus to help him. Their persistence prodded Jesus to move with compassion and power.

In both of these stories we see persistence...and the move of Jesus toward compassion. Remember our God is personal, relational and compassionate. Have you persisted with Jesus for Him to move?

Goodbyes to Gobble Family

Our beloved KC, Erin, Dylan & Wade are moving to Bend, Oregon this weekend. We know that this has popped up and surprised all of us--even the Gobbles. KC received a great offer of a teaching position and they sensed the Lord's call to go.

This Sunday 7/31, will be their last day with our church family. We are excited for them, but sad as they will leave a hole in our hearts. We will have a chance to pray them out and say our good-byes.

Matt Higby back from Atlanta

I went to Atlanta for five weeks of intensive missionary training (known as "Engage 5") at the Encompass headquarters. By God's grace I was able to train alongside Matt and Jen Daniels, my future teammates in Japan. We all learned many new things and I can speak on behalf of all ten missionaries that attended when I say our brains are still sore! My completion of this training was a major step towards getting to Japan as a career missionary Read more online

He will need to raise some more financial support when he returns, so you can begin praying about how the Lord would lead you to join his support team!  Email Matt

The Marin family has been experiencing a wonderful thing...we are actually settling into life in Long Beach, California. As we expressed in our last newsletter, on June 1st we became full-time missionaries and our 2 year journey in support-raising mode ended thanks to many of you and most importantly our faithful God.

The month of May was a turning point for our family; not only because what we had often thought to be impossible happened (raised enough support to become missionaries to the Japanese) but we were also blessed with the opportunity to attend a family reunion in the Philippines...

For over 2,000 years God has been miraculously transforming the lives of men and women as they have placed their faith in Jesus Christ. One of those who have experienced God's transforming power is an Indonesian man named Pulman Marbun. Although Pulman had been raised in a Christi an home on the island of Sumatra, as a teenager he had left his home and his faith and moved to Indonesia's capital city, Jakarta. Pulman became the leader of a gang of thieves, pickpockets, and robbers. The primary area in which the team operated was one of the main bus stations of Jakarta.
Thirty years ago, two life-changing events impacted Pulman...

Precious Lamb Preschool Prayer Update

We are grateful for your continual support through your prayers for Precious Lamb. Please join us as we pray for the following things.

1. Praise God for another fiscal year ending in the black! God has faithfully provided for us and we are trusting He will continue to do so in this following year. Pray as we start a new fiscal year with a new budget, that we would be wise stewards and that He would provide above what we need/ask to continue to provide each child the high quality education and the loving care they need....

Practical Ways to Fight Trafficking

You may have heard the staggering numbers of women and men trapped in modern day slavery around the world (20-30 million)! As someone concerned with Kingdom issues, your love for people and heart for justice probably stirs up a righteous indignation when confronted with such a horrible topic as human trafficking.

But what can you do in response?
