Walking On Water

We examined again Jesus and his work in a very famous story where He takes a stroll through a windstorm on the surface of the Sea of Galilee!

When we read the story, we must see the disciples as this is a learning lesson for them!  After the disciples cry out to the "ghost-like figure on the water," Jesus responds:

"Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid."
Then he climbed into the boat with them, and the wind died down. They were completely amazed... (Mark 6:50-51)

Even though their amazement is the right response, this episode is actually a learning lesson for the disciples about the prior miracle the feeding of the 5000.  Listen to what Mark says.

"... for they had not understood about the loaves; their hearts were hardened."

What Jesus had done just hours before in feeding the 5000+ didn't make the impact on the disciples that it should have made...because their hearts were hard.

A question for you....

Are you missing Jesus' work and miracles in your life because
your heart is hard?

Are you calloused to what Jesus might be doing in your life?

He is working and wants to do even more in and through you as you trust HIM!

Cecil Shares Hosting Opportunity

Dear church family, in 2011 the devastating Fukushima, Japan triple disaster took thousands of lives and left even more homeless and displaced. There have been many ongoing efforts the last several years in helping the Fukushima community heal from this devastation. Part of the healing process has been opportunities for the youth share their story and experiences with the international community.

Shutaro Sugawara who is a CSULB international student who himself was effected by the disaster and has come to trust Christ as Savior through our Long Beach Japanese ministry. Shutaro has a passion for helping other young people heal as he has and will be helping host a one week visit to Long Beach for 10 Jr. High and High school aged boys and girls. We are looking for host families who are willing to partner with Shutaro by opening their hearts and home from August 6th ~ 12th. There will be 6 girls and 4 boys coming.

If this is something you feel God might be inviting you to do please call or text our missionary Cecil O'Dell at 562-221-5253 or email him

Practical Ways to Fight Trafficking

You may have heard the staggering numbers of women and men trapped in modern day slavery around the world (20-30 million)! As someone concerned with Kingdom issues, your love for people and heart for justice probably stirs up a righteous indignation when confronted with such a horrible topic as human trafficking.      But what can you do in response?....
