Friends, Faith & Following Jesus
|
We continued in our journey through Mark with a powerful story where a group of friends helped a paralyzed man get healed by Jesus. They couldn't get to the front of the line, so they dropped him on a mat through the roof! (Mark 2)
We drew our attention to the Amazing Love and the Faith of these friends. We reflected on the question: Do you have friends like this in your life? Then we were challenged...
- Do you act like that kind of friend towards others?
- Who do you need to carry today?
Then we looked into Jesus' forgiveness of the man's sins. That was an unseen action, but to prove Jesus could forgive the man's sins, he completely healed the paralytic -- restoring him so he could walk and carry his mat right out the door!
This Jesus is worth following! In the next story in Mark we see him call Matthew the tax-collector to Himself. Then Jesus goes over to Matthew's house with a lot of unsavory characters. We see that Jesus modeled "keeping bad company isn't always bad." In fact Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners." (Mark 2:17) Listen to this message by Bill Salas online here >>
