We are familiar with seeing God as Father...in fact that is the way we talk about Him. This was present in glimpses in the OT, but in the OT most saints would not have seen Him in this way.
Jesus introduces us to seeing God as Father. He mostly refers to God as Father in the Gospels (often in a personal way).
There are 3 words to describe Father:
1) Ab - father, grandfather, forefather - provides with life, begins our life Isa 9 - Eternal Father Adam is our ultimate "Ab"
2) Pater - Father- nourisher, protector, family We see this in John 1: "As many as received Him, He gave the right to become children of God." Our born again status gives us God as our "Pater"
3) Abba - 3 times in the NT - Dadda, Daddy Speaks from the child's perspective looking up into the embrace of Daddy.
First introduced by Jesus in Mark 14:36 "Abba Father... Let this cup pass from me."
We also see it in Romans 8:15 and Galatians 4:6
The Bible always says "Abba Father" Together they show the child's response to the Father and His response to the children as Daddy.
Do you think of God this way? "Daddy"
The Father's attitude was not "I gotta teach you a lesson," or "you have to earn your way back." Rather Abba embraces us...
If we miss this picture/reality, then we are the ones missing out. Won't you today reach up and talk to God your Father starting with " Abba... Daddy..."
