Jumping back into our Tour of 1 Corinthians, we worked through a key passage on communion. This passage may be familiar, but walking through it line by line and seeing the context of the whole letter was very helpful.
We have seen that the whole book of 1 Corinthians is written to the church to encourage them to love one another and defer to one another, rather than be self-seeking. It is encouraging them to not be divided, but to be unified.
In this section, Paul points to the communion elements to expose their divisive tendency and to draw them into a true union or commUNION.
May we in our church family, heed this challenge to live in unity, deference, loving one another and loving the lost like Paul challenged the Corinthians!
