WARNINGS
As we got back into our "Tour of 1 Corinthians," we engaged chapter ten. This passage is chock-full of warnings from the Old Testament. The Apostle Paul lays out numerous warnings from stories, like the Exodus, which ought to be instructive to us.

We learn and know that God will use situations in our lives to discipline us. We see selfishness leading to brokenness in these stories.  He also tells us that "God has given you everything you need."

No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. -I Cor 10:13

The context and this passage are clear that there is a way out of temptation. Even out of our own selfishness...an Exodus is possible!  Sometimes the way out is actually the courage and strength to go through. God meets us where we are, and guides us as we go through.

What God wants is for us is to do what He wants!

If we throw ourselves into God's arms, submitting our selves to Him, we have nothing to fear from the warnings!

Sympathies and Prayers Extended to Nyquist Family  Lilly
Please lift up Scott, Diane and family. From Scott:
"My sister Kathy McDowell went to be with the Lord on Tuesday (5/13) afternoon.  I found out that things were going south quickly.  I wrote her a good bye letter Monday night and sent it to her daughter Christina back in Pennsylvania.  Chris read it to Kathy today.  Kathy couldn't talk but I know she heard how much I loved her and how proud I was of her.  I'm not sure about the funeral situation but I know Diane and I will be flying back east soon.  I'm grateful that she is no longer suffering, yet we are heartbroken with this news."         Kathy McDowell Obituary >
