As we got back into our "Tour of 1 Corinthians," we engaged chapter nine. It ends with a familiar and powerful passage: Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize?
Run in such a way that you may win. Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.
Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified. (1 Corinthians 9:24-27 NASB

Sympathies and Prayers Extended to Nyquist Family Please lift up Scott, Diane and family. From Scott: "My sister Kathy McDowell went to be with the Lord on Tuesday afternoon. I found out that things were going south quickly. I wrote her a good bye letter Monday night and sent it to her daughter Christina back in Pennsylvania. Chris read it to Kathy today. Kathy couldn't talk but I know she heard how much I loved her and how proud I was of her. I'm not sure about the funeral situation but I know Diane and I will be flying back east soon. I'm grateful that she is no longer suffering, yet we are heartbroken with this news." Kathy McDowell Obituary >
