MINISTRY QUICK LINKS
WISDOM FROM ABOVE

In our series from the letter by James, in chapter 3, he asks this provocative question:

"Who among you is wise and understanding?"

In a quick and immediate response to that question, James articulates the following:

"Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom!"

Christianity has often been shown as a faith where you have to know stuff.  It's not just about knowing stuff, but truly it's about doing stuff! This is a WORKING faith, not merely a mental assent.

We find that James articulates the clear differences between worldly wisdom and wisdom from above.

Worldly wisdom has it's operating principles of selfishness, pride and jealousy. Where this "wisdom" shapes decisions, it is worldly!

Wisdom from Above is from a whole different perspective:

  • is firstpure,
  • then peaceable
  • gentle,
  • reasonable,
  • full of mercy and good fruits,
  • unwavering,
  • without hypocrisy   (James 3:17)

The only way to live with this Wisdom from Above is to open yourself up to God, to ask Him to take over your life and give you that wisdom that is out of this world!  Won't you ask Him?
