A DAY TO PRAY

Ironically so often that means we talk about praying, hear folks talk about praying and reminisce about how prayer is important, but we don't really pray.  Enough of that. Here is some white space to encourage you to pray!!!!

LONG BEACH DAY OF PRAYER EVENT
Observe the National Day of Prayer

Thursday, May 2,  

at 6pm

in the El Dorado Park Amphitheater  

(southeast corner of Studebaker Road and Willow Street)


Music will be provided by the Soldiers for the Second Coming, led by Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr., who were members of pop group the Fifth Dimension.

 

Admission and parking are free and those attending are urged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and sweaters.

Aaron Brake will be teaching a six week apologetics series from May 4 to June 8, Saturday mornings from 8am to 9:30am. The location is at Parkcrest Christian Church, at 3936 Woodruff Ave, Long Beach, CA, 90808. We will be meeting in the "Unplugged" building which is visible from Woodruff Ave. The series is for a Men's group that meets at Parkcrest, so only men are invited.
    If you are interested in attending please let me know and I will keep you updated of any changes. All men are invited so feel free to invite friends.

WORK MATTERS: A REFLECTION FROM BOB GENBERG   

My bedside alarm activates and Jackson Browne's "Before the Deluge" nudges me out of my slumber. I get up in a sleepy haze and get dressed for work. I gather my backpack, kiss my wife and daughters goodbye, and fall into freeway traffic. Another workday has begun and I'm on autopilot. Swimming upstream against the current model of "church," eight men and women were willing to risk all in their efforts to establish a church that reflected the priorities and values of the New Testament.

For a decade or so, their efforts were rewarded and the church steadily grew. Then came a change in provincial leadership, and persecution caused them to immigrate to the newly founded Penn's Colony (Pennsylvania)....Check out the rest HERE

We are low on some items and could use your donations of:

  • Personal hygiene items
  • Nonperishable food items
  • Household paper goods
  • Laundry detergent
  • Canned tuna & chicken
  • Lunchbox snacks
  • Canned spaghetti sauce
  • Pasta
  • Beans & Rice
