ENTER GOD'S REST
God promised the Nation of Israel an inheritance -a Promised Land. Now the nation had some rough detours on the way to get to it. They were enslaved in Egypt, and wandered in the wilderness for 40 years but in the beginning of the book of Joshua, we see them ready to go into their land! 

This inheritance of land was a huge deal. Everybody gets land as their inheritance.  You could lease your property, but you could not sell it, because it was part of the promise from God.

As the Scriptures talk about this inheritance of land in the Old Testament, it is sometimes equated with "rest."

"Well that's nice for them...but SO WHAT?" you might be asking...

As we seek to apply this passage, there remains this promise of "rest" for Christians. Hebrews 4 speaks to this "rest." It is another kind of "rest," not land at all.

The Letter to the Hebrews explains this starting with God's rest - Sabbath, resting from His work.  In the same way we can enter this "rest."

Hebrews 4:10 shows us the one who enters this special rest, rests from "all his works." We must believe that Christ did it ALL. We have no works to offer Him. Cease from your works....my burden is easy & light Jesus said!

The person who follows Jesus, has rest and is about helping others to enter into the rest of God! We must help each other enter that rest!

We're doing a combined Winter Camp/ Spring Adventure in Palm Springs!

  • For a taste of winter... we'll go up the aerial tramway to cold weather and (hopefully) snow.
  • For a taste of spring... we'll lounge, eat, and swim at Desert Hot Springs.

The Cost??   Only $100 if you sign-up in January and $120 in February.

Los Altos Brethren Preschool DONATION ITEMS NEEDED FOR PRESCHOOL SALE
On Jan. 26, Preschool will be having their first ever sale to raise money for new equipment and supplies.  Please help support our preschool by donating gently used children's items.
  • Children's clothing (all sizes)
  • Children's shoes (all sizes
  • Infant clothing and goods
  • Toys large and small
  • Costumes
  • Books
  • Children's furniture and other large items can be donated on Jan 25th between 5:30pm-7:00pm in the church parking lot (please no mattresses or large upholstered items)
Donations are being accepted January 7-25. Please leave your donation items in the designated green bins and take a pre-sale ticket to be able to get first pick of the sale.

Please donate only items that you would purchase yourself. These items will be a representation of our school.

Parents may attend either session. The evening session is for working parents.

NEEDED SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS! 
The children's ministry needs a 3rd & 4th grade 9:00 AM Sunday school teacher for the first Sunday of every month.

We also need a 1st-5th grade junior church teacher for the 4th Sunday of each month.

O'Dells INTERNATIONALS OUTREACH WITH THE O'DELLS

Our own missionaries to the Japanese, Cecil & Debbie O'Dell, have been talking with us about bringing back an "Internationals Night" to our church family where we can encourage international students English abilities and build relationships!  If you are interested in this, please contact Mike Jentes for more info.
