THE UPWARD SPIRAL OF WORSHIP

As we have been working on growing in worship over the last 3 months we have looked at many facets and perspectives on worship. Our summary is that worship is offering all we are to God.

Many of us in our church family have responded to the Lord in that first step of accepting His gift of salvation. We say "Yes we accept Your sacrifice Jesus!" After we take that step, we often wonder how do we continue to worship and offer our all we are to God.

In the writings of the Apostle Peter, we notice that when we offer all we are to God that what follows is an upward spiral toward a fruitful and fulfilling life in Jesus:

"Now for this very reason also,
applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence,
and in your moral excellence, knowledge,

and in your knowledge, self-control,
and in your self-control, perseverance,
and in your perseverance, godliness,

and in your godliness, brotherly kindness,
and in your brotherly kindness, love.

For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
"                            (2 Peter 1:5-8 NASB)

  • Author Eric Metaxas also set up a Facebook Group to encourage prayer, fasting and the sharing of stories which you can see here

  • Also has been an online community called American Prayer Initiative that has been already praying and circulating daily prayers with Election Day in mind.
