Expanding Medicaid

Gov. Jan Brewer unveiled draft legislation detailing her plans for expanding Medicaid in Arizona. The following are links to varied news sources on this topic:

azcentral.com, Arizona Daily Sun, The Caucus (New York Times blog), Tucson Citizen

The Legislature is holding an informational hearing on the Governor's plan Wednesday, March 20 at 2:00 pm in House Hearing Room 1. The Governor's plan must be approved by the Legislature. This is your opportunity to tell the Legislature directly whether you support the Governor's plan. If you wish to testify, you must register your name in a kiosk at the Legislature (remember to select the correct bill number). There will be volunteers from the Arizona Business Coalition that will help you register so you can tell your story. There is no requirement for you to speak--you are welcome to just come and sign in to say whether you support the Governor's restoration plan. The hearing will be led by Appropriations Chairman John Kavanagh (R-Dist. 23).

Norovirus Prevention

Norovirus season is approaching, and this virus can be particularly troublesome in settings like nursing homes. Many alcohol-based hand sanitizers aren't effective against norovirus. The Arizona Health Department has released information on combating the spread including tips for preventing norovirus in Healthcare Facilities Fact Sheet and other Healthcare Settings. For more information, visit their norovirus online pamphlet.

The State plan must encompass baseline data, projected targets, and activities to achieve those targets.
