Insurers Latest To Champion Medical Homes

This method of delivering primary care is becoming more common, with a growing number of health system players coming on board.  With evidence mounting that patient-centered medical homes can reduce costs and improve outcomes, more insurers are pushing them. That means primary care physicians will be under increasing pressure from payers to adapt their practices to the model.

Special Education Assistance for Parents in Southern Arizona

More help for families of children receiving special education services is now available in Southern Arizona.

Raising Special Kids, Arizona's Parent Training and Information Center (PTI) is expanding services for families in Southern Arizona. PTIs operate under Part D of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, which establishes parent training and information centers in every state to provide special education information and assistance to parents of students with disabilities.

Raising Special Kids welcomes Jeanne Hollabaugh and Jill McCollum to the team of Family Support Specialists based in Tucson and providing services to Southern Arizona. Effective October 16th they can be reached by Telephone: 520-441-4007 or Toll Free: 800-237-3007 or Fax: 520-441-8981.

Helping Raising Special Kids Make a Difference

 Katie Petersen Resident Hosting

Katie remembers learning about Raising Special Kids when her son Jack was 2 years old from his DDD (Division of Developmental Disabilities) Support Coordinator.

Then she realized she had been acquainted with Raising Special Kids previously in her career as a special education teacher, "but I didn't think to use those services for myself until I heard that recommendation."

Katie was connected with a family of a child similar to Jack, and she found that sharing experiences, emotions and knowledge was invaluable. "It was so good to talk to other parents who understood what I was going through," she explained. "If you are new to either a diagnosis or the experience of having a child with special needs, I think it is key to be able to talk to other parents in the same situation. There are so many different emotions that you just wouldn't share with anyone else."

Raising Special Kids needs your help to serve more families like Katie's. Please make your donation today through our secure online system. Thank you.
