                Holy Week ~ Easter ~
"Words That Last"

"During the final week, Holy Week, we hear the fullness of Christ's passion, his death, and resurrection. From Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem ... all of Holy Week focuses on the passion. As His followers, we travel Christ's path of servanthood through the Lord's Supper and the suffering of the cross toward the glory of Easter, all of which underscores the inseparable link between the death and resurrection of Jesus."

Celebrate Easter Breakfast with

Served from 8 to 10 am. in Fellowship Hall

"Stained Glass Window"

The children at GIPC have been studying a rotation on Holy Week called The Empty Tomb. With the help of Mrs. Jenkins they created this beautiful "stained glass window" in the Oasis Room, exemplifying the themes of "darkness" and "light".

When you climb the stairs and walk along the hallway on the second floor, take time to appreciate the wall paintings of Bible stories - the art work of Charlotte McDonnell, Kathy Ogden, and a few others - as you make your way to view this stunning Easter-tide creation!
Adult Nurture

"HOT TOPICS: GUN CONTROL AND RACISM"
April 12 - May 10
Adult Nurture invites you to be part of a series of Sunday morning discussions on topics of great currency,

topics which, unfortunately, dominate our news far too much. We're talking about "Gun Control" and "Racism in

America".
They're called Hot Topics for a reason: they can generate a lot of raised voices and heated discussion, resulting in an inability to even hear another viewpoint, much less absorb it. With that caution in mind,we're going to kick off this series with a two week class led by Leigh Krauss: "When Church People Disagree." On April 12 and April 19, we'll talk about the ground rules that govern respectful conversation. We agree that people won't always agree, that ideas can be far apart and consensus unlikely. Yet, we are still children of God who respect and care for each other.
The next Sunday, April 26, Steve Benton will lead as we talk about "Gun Control". Eighty-six Americans die

from gunshot wounds every day, and 12 of those deaths are children. We'll unpack the myths that surround the subject of guns and then try to figure out where we go from here.
On May 3, Ron Case will lead a two-week class on "Racism in America." Ferguson, Manhattan and, sadly,

Inkster, have made this a much-needed conversation. Despite increasing racial diversity in this country, our

daily lives are often quite segregated - especially if you live on an island. There are multiple facets to the problem and no clear, tidy answers.
These are crucial subjects for church discussion; we hope you'll be part of understanding the issues and working toward the solutions.

Tips For Seniors

Life Lessons from Regina Brett, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer:
*Believe in miracles
*Growing old beats the alternative
*Read the Psalms, they cover every human emotion.
*If we threw our problems in a pile to see everyone else's, we'd take ours back.
*Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
*Get outside every day; miracles are waiting everywhere.
*Don't audit life; show up and make the most of it now.
*The best is yet to come
*All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

 One Great Hour of Sharing
Lent

The One Great Hour of Sharing, a special offering taken during Lent, supports the Presbyterian Mission Agency ministries in its work in three specified mission areas in this country and abroad:

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance provides support and relief to communities adversely affected by crises and catastrophic events.
Presbyterian Hunger Program works to eliminate hunger and its causes, and to strengthen alternatives to produce and share healthy food.
Self-Development of People supports those affected by oppression, poverty and injustice in their communities.
The people of Grosse Ile Presbyterian Church have a long history of responding generously to our Presbyterian Mission Special Offerings. Your gift provides hope, resilience and faith to those in need. It is our "collective witness" to the love of Jesus Christ.
Please give generously. Special One Great Hour of Sharing Offering envelopes may be found in the sanctuary pew racks.
