Sending Sunday ~ Youth Mission Trip ~
Ghost Ranch, New Mexico

Ghost Ranch, "an ecumenical and interfaith education and retreat center of the PC(USA) is grounded in spirituality, seeks to hold in reverence all of creation, to extend hospitality to all persons and to practice environmental responsibility".           (Presbyterian Mission Agency)

On Sunday, July 6, eight of our Youth and their chaperones were sent into Mission with our prayers and encouragement as they traveled to the Ghost Ranch to help with repairs and maintenance of the facilities and grounds. Its magnificent landscape and the uniqueness of the area has inspired artists, naturalists, and visitors to appreciate our earth in its most natural essence. For further information and photos of Ghost Ranch, click on the link above.

Tips For Seniors

"The only thing you take with you when you're gone is what you leave behind" - John Allston

Ask your children what they consider your legacy to be and you may be surprised to discover they consider the lessons you taught them to be more important than the assets you bequeath. According to Susan V. Bosak, educator, author, and Legacy Project Chair, "Legacy is an inter-connection across time, with a need for those who have come before us and a responsibility to those who come after us. Legacy is about life and living. It's about learning from the past, living in the present, and building for the future." Because your personal legacy should reflect core values, standards and deep beliefs, it is important for you to live an intentional life, one lived to the fullest; not one that simply happens. Consider the following questions when you examine your own personal legacy:
* Have you strived to lead a Christian life?
* What values have you cultivated and lived by?
* What will your family remember most about you?
* What contributions have you have made to your community and society?
* How many true friends do you have and how will they remember you?
* Will people quote your life as an example to follow?

Good advice for any young family is to make the church a vital part of family's life. It is far less difficult persuading children to attend church if, by their example, parents (And grandparents) attend regularly and become involved in church activities. Children observe and imitate their parents. Therefore, it is far more likely children will give the observance of the Sabbath precedence over outside activities, if their parents do. According to Dr. Edgar L. Eckfeldt, in The Christian Legacy, "For all its faults and limitations, Christianity and its faith in God is the ultimate reason Western civilization, including the sciences practiced by skeptics and atheists, exists. Without the unselfish social conscience that Christianity and its image of Jesus has bequeathed to us, we would be in the perpetual state of war."

Yoga Class continues on Thursdays at 10:30 am. All ages and levels of mobility are welcome. Class meets for 45 minutes. Cost is $5.00 per class.
