February 16 Deuteronomy 30:16 I have commanded you today to love the Lord your God and to follow his paths and to keep his laws, so that you will live and become a great nation, and so that the Lord your God will bless you and the land you are about to purchase.
February 23 Psalm 119:33 Just tell me what to do Oh lord! and I will do it. As long as I live I'll wholeheartedly obey.

God's Minute |
I have only just a minute,
Only sixty seconds in it.
Forced upon me, Can't refuse it,
Didn't seek it, didn't choose it,
But it's up to me to use it.
I must suffer if I lose it,
Give account if I abuse it.
Just a tiny little minute ~
But eternity is in it.

Friends Of The Groom Coming Soon!
Plan on a fun weekend with your church family...
You won't want to miss this intergenerational event! Friends of the Groom, the professional theater group comes back to GIPC on Friday, February 28th through Sunday, March 2nd bringing fun and creativity. You'll remember them from last year when they were here and left everyone raving about the time with them. On Friday night, we'll look at Acts 12 by supposing what would happen if Simon Peter met detective Sam Spade, as we enjoy "The Case of the Missing Bodies". Note for parents of young children: This segment of the weekend is best suited for ages 5 and older because of loud noises which might frighten the youngest of us. (Child care will be provided if you indicate on the sign-up sheet that you'd like it.)
Then come again on Saturday, March 1st (all ages can join in) from 9 am -noon for "Beyond Bathrobes..." a workshop on how to use drama and storytelling in telling the Christian message. We will also have an opportunity for 8-10 people, a mix of children and adults, to sign up to work with the theater company from 1-2 on Saturday afternoon in order to prepare to participate in worship on Sunday morning. They will learn to bring the Christian message alive in an exciting and challenging format. Watch for both sign-ups at the Crossroads and plan to join us for this entertaining way to explore our faith together. It promises to be an interesting and exciting weekend as we look at Christian theater as a way to grow in our faith! |
York Connection
"Life" Notebooks
Do you have, readily accessible and in one spot, your vital information such as family members, financial facts, medical data and final arrangements? York Connection has put together "Life" notebooks that can be a 'Go To' source when a crisis occurs. No one will need to wonder who to contact or what investments you have, who your doctors are or what medications you take, what possessions you own or what constitutes your home maintenance information.
Stop by the Crossroads. York Connection is selling these notebooks for $2 apiece. The notebook comes with the first tab: your Personal Information section, ready for you to fill in the blanks. Each month we'll hand out, free, another section. February's section is Your Medical History. In future months you'll add Your Estate section, Your Investments and your Personal Possessions, among others. When we run out of our stock of notebooks, we'll take orders for more and notify you as soon as they come in. It's the best $2 you'll ever spend!
York Tips
Sometimes it helps us to be reminded of life's simple truths:
* Life is much too short so live in the present and enjoy every moment.
* Be patient, accepting and respectful to everyone, including those closest to you.
* Be slow to judge, slow to condemn and slow to anger but quick to forgive.
* Share your feelings, share your love, share your gifts and share your resources.
* Freely admitting your mistakes and making amends allows you to move-on.
* Make eye contact and really listen to others: nothing is learned while we are speaking.
* Appearance, demeanor, grammar and personal hygiene are critical to being accepted.
* Reasoning and logic open us to new and unfamiliar ideas, opinions, and situations.
* It is wise to study every angle and weigh every cost before making important decisions.
* Smiles are contagious: nothing affects others more than a cheerful, positive attitude.
* When everything else fails, apply the KISS principal: Keep It Simple, Stupid.
Ignore these truths and, in time, you'll discover them anyway.

Sending Sunday
Grace House II Volunteers
On Sunday, February 9th, volunteers and helping hands were commissioned to continue this fine project of providing transitional housing to people who need an assist to getting back on their feet. GIPC has partnered with Wayne County Metro Community Action Agency, who coordinates the homeless programs in our area, to find a family for us. Many in the congregation have given not only of their time and talents, but have donated furnishings and household items to make the house a home. Check the display board inside the front entrance for additional ways you can help and donate the numerous items that are still needed for Grace House II. |
