Lord, hear me praying; listen to my plea, O God my King, for I will never pray to anyone but you.

But O my soul, don't be discouraged. Don't be upset. Expect God to Act! For I know that I shall again have plenty of reason to praise him for
all that he will do. He is my help! He is my God!

A destination Worship Service

GIPC is moving outside its walls into our community and beyond with our mission work. On the banks of the river, we will commission two groups of youth, one to do service work in Pittsburgh, PA and another to attend the Presbyterian Youth Triennium, a national youth conference where youth from all over the country grow in their faith through worship, small group discussions, and recreation.

We invite you to arrive in a creative way....walk, run, ride your bike, arrive on your boat by motor, sail, canoe or kayak, roller skate, skate-board, trot your horse, golf cart, drive to GIPC, park and shuttle, drive your car, or any other creative and green mode of transportation to the home of Shannon and Greg Genter, 21344 East River, Grosse Ile, at 9:00 am for coffee and juice, Worship at 9:30 am on the lawn overlooking the beautiful Detroit River, and Brunch following. All are welcome.

Donations will be accepted for brunch. Only one service this day; no service at GIPC. Bring your favorite picnic blanket for your family to gather upon or umbrella chairs. There will be a tent for shade and some chairs and tables available. The driveway and paved areas are easily accessible for folks that need level ground for safety. Additional parking available at St. Anne's lot on East River and Church. Our nursery teachers will be joining us.

Tips For Seniors

Gone Phishing?

The internet is an incredible source of information and an instant means of communication, connecting the population of the entire world. If you are an internet user, you need to be aware of a scam called, "phishing".

Phishing is when thieves attempt to trick you into providing your personal information by disguising themselves as a representative of a trusted company. They may ask you to reply to an e-mail or click on a link that takes you to a counterfeit website. Phishing can also be in the form of a phone call: a scammer asking you for usernames, passwords, and credit card details. They often sound convincing because they may already have some of your personal information. The hackers who broke into TD Ameritrade's database stole Social Security numbers, account numbers, email addresses, names, home addresses, phone numbers and dates of birth. In order to raid their victim's accounts, they also needed account usernames and passwords so they launched a follow-up phishing attack to get that information.

Remember: legitimate companies or government agencies never call or send an e-mail requesting your Social Security or account numbers. They already have those! Beware of strange e-mail messages from friends or acquaintances that don't make sense to you. Using addresses stolen from your e-mail account, phishers send phony messages asking you to respond. Do not open or click on the links they provide. An empty subject box is often a clue that these e-mail messages are phony. If you are concerned you may be offending a friend by deleting their message, phone them to ask if they were indeed the source. By staying alert, you can avoid phishing scams.

Game Day

Game day continues at GIPC through the summer months from 2-4 pm. on Wednesdays.

One Great Hour of Sharing -
Thank You!

 PC(USA) Pentecost Special Offering

Gifts to the One Great Hour of Sharing Special Offering are used to support three specific programs within the Presbyterian Church (USA): Self-Development of People, Presbyterian Hunger Program, and Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. This special offering, which is usually received on Palm Sunday and Easter, provides for both emergency and long-term care for people in the midst of dire and, often, disastrous circumstances. OGHS gifts enable the church to show forth the love and compassion of Christ to those who experience poverty, hunger, grief, and loss.

Over the last three years, GIPC members have consistently increased their commitment to the OGHS offering. This year' gifts increased by more than 50% over 2012.

On behalf of those who will be helped by this generosity, thank you!  On behalf of those we will help but never meet, thank you! On behalf of those who will experience God's mercy, perhaps for the first time, thank you!
